This is in relation to the last response I did regarding the catcher and player in black. Honestly, I respect this coach’s take šŸ¤™šŸ¼

A common misconception in hitting is that you are always going to have to let the ball travel on the pitch outside, and that you’re always going to have to hit the ball out in front on a pitch inside. While these approaches are usually ideal, they are not always realistic. The best hitters are able to drive the ball even when they hit the inside pitch a bit too deep, or the outside pitch a bit too far in front.

Trying to be perfect can be the enemy of being great.

Practicing to hit the inside pitch in front is good, and practicing to hit the outside pitch deep is good. HOWEVER, we also need to practice hitting those pitches in a ā€œnon-idealā€ spot so that we can train for real time situations in a game when we need to get results without being perfect (aka adjustability).

In the example above, I am hitting the outside pitch deep (which is more ideal for me and for most hitters). BUT I am also hitting the inside pitch on the deeper side, which is training for when I may get beat/be late and ensure I still have enough juice to drive the ball.

Keep this in mind during your practices and see if it helps šŸ¤™šŸ¼

Absolutely an accident. Parents need to calm it down.
