Say It Louder
You should think of Summer as my Farewell Tour 🥹
🎯 PISTOL 101: Safety & Fundamentals - Class size is 8 so we're teaching 16 ppl per weekend.
Starting September, I'll only come back to L.A. to teach it one Saturday a month and privately that week. That's it. So book me while you can.
November 1 and December 6 are the 2 Saturdays in 2025 that are still open
For folks who simply cannot wait months, I am now PRIVATELY available MON-FRI. To balance my time and energy during the week, cost is as low as $400/person if a group of 4 people book.
🎯 PISTOL 102: Buying First Gun - for returning clients, who want to learn how to make an informed decision and what to look for when purchasing their 1st handgun.
You'll practice fundamentals learned in Pistol 101 with 12 different brands, models, actions and sizes of handguns.

✅️ PRO TIP: Because these classes are taught concurrently with CCW classes, they sell out when CCW students get 1st priority. Check a few days before the class, as I often open up more seats based on class size.
🎯 PISTOL 101-B: Accuracy & Best Practices - Open to anyone already comfortable with guns with some experience.
101-B is the 2nd half of 101, learning best practices for efficient loading/unloading, correcting any bad habits with fundamentals to improve accuracy. The 4 hr class is half the cost of 101 for folks who need a quick refresher.
🎯 PISTOL 201: Speed & Performance for any gun owner who wants to learn realistic shooting skills. Holster required.
🎯 CARRY CONCEALED WEAPON (CCW) initial 16 hour or 8 hour renewal training for anyone applying for or renewing a CCW permit in LA County.
Most CCW trainers do majority classroom and barely any time doing basic slow shooting at the range.
I am the opposite: 12/16 hrs initial and all 8hrs renewal is learning advanced and realistic speed shooting from holster at the range, so people who want to carry guns in public are equipped with real skills and not a liability to the general public.
⚠️ LEAD UPDATE: Lowest since I started teaching in 2020
The dirty secret no one in the gun world talks about is lead exposure.
Bullets are made of lead and greatest exposure happens at indoor ranges, which are poorly ventilated by nature of being enclosed.
Takeaways from my own blood results the past 5 years:
- Yes, I was able to lower my lead level and it wasn't just N95 masking. Also gloves, and decontaminating after every lesson with delead hand soap, changing out of range clothes and shoes, and delead shampoo and laundry detergent.
- Inhalation is the greatest risk, which is why it shot back up after mask mandates were removed and I got lazy about it teaching indoors.
- Best lead exposure mitigation is to shoot outdoors. I moved my teaching entirely outdoors in Jan 2023, and lead level instantly dropped.
- I still have students and myself delead wipe our hands before lunch and going home. Lowest level of lead so far is because since I'm booked teaching every weekend, I haven't been able to competition shoot for almost a year now.
While there is always going to be lead exposure living in an industrial society, toxic exposure disproportionately happens in Black and Brown communities, because of pollution allowed to happen in low income areas.
The people most vulnerable to lead exposure are children because their brains haven't fully developed yet, and pregnant women and their unborn children.
Do not bring lead back home to them.
Anyone who shoots regularly should ask their doctor to check their Blood Lead Level (BLL) just like checking their cholesterol and other health metrics in their regular blood work.

1st Pistol 102: Buying First Gun weekend class went great!🤗
Loved seeing students nerd out, taking notes about each of 12 different handguns to learn how to make an informed buying decision.
They got to experience the difference shooting a variety of striker fire guns, and learn the pros and cons of hammer fire guns that lead to the evolution and innovation of striker fire guns.
After taking their time slow shooting these guns and choosing their 3 favorites, they ended the lesson by shooting them as fast as possible.
The more realistic test of how a gun feels in your hand and whether you have adequate grip, is to run the gun at high speed, like in a a defensive situation or a speed competition.
For these folks new to guns, it's their 1st time experiencing how to shoot a gun fast, and sets them up for our Pistol 201: Speed & Performance once they've purchased their 1st handgun.
Tips for fast shooting (look at each student to see who's doing it well):
- Relaxed trigger finger & hand. Too tense, then you can't move it fast
- Relaxed shoulders and bent elbows
- High support hand to minimize bore axis and strong pressure. Gun will shoot flatter with less muzzle rise
In Pistol 201, they'll put it all together so their shots are defensively accurate and accountable on target.
As a final treat, I let them shoot my competition gun, CZ Shadow 2, so they can feel what a high performance gun is like.
If Glocks are Honda Civics of the gun world, then the Shadow 2 is a race car only meant for professional drivers on the race track, and not street legal.
It isn't drop safe and you do not want a light 2.5lb trigger on a self defense gun -- you might panic and shoot when you didn't mean to, which is a liability.
But it's fun for them to experience the whole spectrum of budget, mechanism and performance, from basic Glocks they used in Pistol 101 to a big budget high-performance gun.
Lots of my students find me because they are progressives, so they can be themselves and we can have frank discussions about how liberalism won't save us from tyranny and fascism.
