Tomorrow, July 7th, we invite our Jaguars family and community members to join us in supporting the students, parents, and neighbors who will be speaking before the Edmonds School Board in support of reinstating the School Resource Officer (SRO) program.

This is **not** a call to return to the past without accountability or reflection.

This is a call to move forward with a better model—one focused on prevention, relationship-building, de-escalation, student support, and school safety.

Across the country, communities are grappling with increasing concerns about youth violence, school threats, mental health crises, and campus safety. Edmonds School District is not immune to these challenges.

We believe meaningful change happens when communities show up, listen well, and work together toward solutions that prioritize the well-being of our youth.

At Jaguars, we believe in caring for the whole child—body, mind, and heart. While we love the energy, teamwork, and resilience that sports build, we know there's just as much value in slowing down, laughing with friends, and creating something together.

Sometimes, all it takes is a bucket of sidewalk chalk, a little sunshine, and good company to spark joy, encourage imagination, and remind a child they're free to simply be a kid. Those moments build confidence, connection, and creativity just as much as drills and game days.

Because holistic health means making space for movement and mindfulness, competition and creativity, friendships and fresh air. Every piece matters, and every child deserves opportunities to thrive in all of them.

We recently asked our Committee President a simple question:

"Why do you come to Jaguars?"

His answer was simple: "Service. Service to others. Service to my community. Service to life. Service to the Lord."

That conversation sparked an important reminder: everyone has a different why.

For some, it's giving back. For others, it's growth, connection, mentorship, fun, purpose, or the desire to make a difference. There isn't one right answer—but having an answer matters.

Your why is what keeps you moving when things get difficult. It's what gives meaning to your efforts and direction to your goals. It's the fuel behind your actions and the reason you keep showing up.

At Jaguars, we encourage young people to discover what motivates them, what they care about, and what kind of impact they want to make. Because when you know your why, you're better equipped to build a future with intention.
