Email was just sent!

Good evening,

If you are receiving this email, your child is registered for Flag Football this season—welcome! We’ve had an amazing turnout:

1st & 2nd Grade Division: 51 players

3rd & 4th Grade Division: 52 players

These are fantastic numbers, but to make the season successful, we need more volunteer coaches.

Current Volunteers:
1st & 2nd Grade

Head Coaches – 2

Assistant Coaches – 2

3rd & 4th Grade

Head Coaches – 3

Assistant Coaches – 4

Team Manager – 1

Our Goal:
Ideally, we’d have 8 teams in each division with 6–7 kids per team. This allows us to play 5-on-5 with minimal time on the sidelines.

If you did not sign up as a coach during registration but are willing to help, please reply to this email. Coaching flag football is simple—there are plenty of online playbooks for offense, and defense is all about hustle and attitude. Our focus is not on winning, but on teaching the fundamentals of football (catching, throwing, running, pulling flags) and being great teammates. With that being said we do compete to win games and we do have an end of season tournament to put a bow on our season.

If you can spare one hour, two nights a week, please consider volunteering—it makes a big difference for the kids.

First Week Practice Schedule
All practices at 6:30 PM, practices will last 60-75 minutes.

Monday, August 18 – First practice (Coach’s meeting at 6:00 PM)

Tuesday, August 19 – Off (Downtown Madtown)

Wednesday, August 20 – Practice

Thursday, August 21 – Practice

Thank you for helping us make this a fun and positive season for the kids!

Just a reminder. There is no youth football tonight. The 6th grade game vs Brookings is rescheduled for Monday night at the Beacom Track Complex at 7pm.

The flag football tournament starts on Saturday at 9am. All games will be at the Beacom track complex.

The 5th grade tackle game will start at 11am on Saturday at the Beacom track complex as well.

All fans will need to sit in the bleachers, not on the field please. Coaches and players are the only ones allowed on the turf/track area.

Please do not park in the west parking lot. That is reserved for DSU tailgating. Please park in the high school lot and walk through the DSU practice fields to get to the field.

We will go forward with flag football practice as long as there is no lightning within 10 miles. If your coaches decides to cancel practice that is their option. Radar looks ok until closer to 7pm. When you bring your kids to practice please stay close just in case the weather moves in sooner.
