Today, I had the opportunity to attend the Agoge Jiu-Jitsu event and participate in an incredible seminar with Mestre Caverinha. 🥋🔥

It was a day full of learning! I asked many questions, exchanged ideas, and learned important details that I will definitely carry with me in my own Jiu-Jitsu journey and, most importantly, share with my students.

One of the reasons I love doing seminars is because I believe that a professor should never stop being a student. I do seminars to keep learning, improve my own Jiu-Jitsu, discover new details, and become a better professor for my students. The more I learn, the more I can give back to them. 🥋🤙

But beyond the techniques, there is something even more special to me: the friendships, the conversations, the laughs, and simply being around people who live and love Jiu-Jitsu.

It feels great to be part of this community, learning from other professors, sharing experiences, and continuing to grow together. That is one of the things that makes Jiu-Jitsu so special to me.

Always learning. Always improving. Always sharing.

🇺🇸🥋 An Honor to Serve Those Who Serve

It was a true honor and privilege to have the opportunity to teach a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu seminar at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, and share the art and values of Jiu-Jitsu with members of the United States Air Force and our Armed Forces.

I would like to sincerely thank Mr. David Ortiz and LTC Rudy Talamantez for their trust, support, and for giving me this incredible opportunity.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is much more than a martial art. It teaches discipline, resilience, respect, confidence, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Being able to share these principles with the men and women who serve our nation was an experience I will always be grateful for.

It was an honor to step onto the mats at Joint Base Andrews and contribute, even in a small way, to the training and readiness of our service members.

Thank you for the warm welcome and for allowing me to share something I truly love.

Much respect, gratitude, and appreciation. 🇺🇸🥋

🥋 Learning Through Games!

In this video, we’re having fun with the kids while working on important skills for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and takedowns!

We use commands like “Down, Up, Low, Switch Base!” and then, when they hear the command, they have to react quickly and attack with a kick or a double-leg takedown. We go one line at a time, then switch sides.

It looks like a game, but there’s a purpose behind it! 🧠⚡️
These drills help the kids develop reaction time, movement, balance, coordination, and the ability to stay ready to enter a takedown.

We also played another reaction game with the cone. When I give the command, they have to react, grab the cone, and the fastest person wins! 🏃‍♂️💨

Everything we do on the mats has a purpose. Sometimes learning happens through hard training, and sometimes it happens through a game.

Train smart. Have fun. Be ready! 🥋🔥
