This is SO true! I changed it from 2021 to 2026, so this has been going on for a while now. LOL!

Joe R.'s done did it again...he took a great bike, a Giant Roam hybrid/dual-sport, and made it a customized, personalized, bad-, awesome bike. He 'elevated' it. He upgraded it a lot, starting with the Rockshox Paragon suspension fork, which dropped over a pound and half right off the bat, then he had us build a custom wheel-set going from loose ball bearing hubs to fully sealed Origin-8 black hubs, DT swiss black spokes, black brass ni***es and black DT Swiss disc rims....nice! He topped them off with Schwalbe Gravel type tires. Then he had us get him a new Thomson seat-post and stem, installed on a un-cut steering tube to gain height and cool headset spacers to match. He had a Surly swept-back bar, with OURY lock-on grips, skull-chief bar plugs and a beautiful, classy Brooks leather saddle to add to his excellent, thought-out, envisioned creation. The drivetrain was still in great shape but he had us install a fresh, new chain to keep it crisp. He already had upgraded to those super-cool Black-Ops platform pedals. A couple of gloss black water bottle holders, a tune-up and cleaning with lots of positive energy finished it up. It's a heck-of-a-bike now!

Here's Quinn M.'s 1955 Schwinn Traveler he got from an old timer not too long ago. Come to find out, the gentleman he purchased it from was the original owner. He had entered a coloring contest as a kid in 1955 for the 'Howdy Doody" show...AND WON! This absolutely gorgeous Schwinn was his prize! He's had it ever since. He decided to sell it, but it had to go to someone who would really appreciate this classic bike, the beauty, the history and take good care of it like he did. Quinn was the one. Even better, the day Quinn got it, was the SAME day the Old Timer won it, many, many years before. How cool is that? It's almost all original and in magnificent condition. Quinn chose a newer Brooks saddle and we installed an easier gear on the back and some new brake pads, that's it. It's so shiny and clean it doesn't look 71 years old! The chrome fenders, the chrome generator light, the chrome horn and the 'vintage' speedometer just make it so great! Quinn is probably out riding it right now!

Surely we sell SURLY bikes, usually special order, like this brand-spanking-new Preamble road/gravel/commuter/all around bike in 'hi-viz' black. lol! Get it? High visibility...black. It's 100% Surly Chromoly steel frame & fork with a double-butted main triangle with plenty of places to attach fenders, water bottle holders, racks and such. Shimano Cues components, 1x9, Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, Shimano hubs, flat-bar version (you can get this bike with drop-bars also) and those classy lookin' gumwall Teravail tires. Thanks Mr. S! He was wanting something more upright and comfortable with more versatility than his road bike. Great choice! We hope you have many, many great rides on your new SURLY Preamble. EVERYONE I've ever come across that has a SURLY absolutely LOVES it and we hope you do too!

It was 16 years ago today that Bull Run Bicycles opened and we can't thank you enough for getting us here. Your support has meant absolutely everything to us and we are so very grateful. We had no idea what the future would hold for us. It's been an incredible journey so far. We've had our 'ups and downs', we survived the pandemic, we've watched the industry change and we've hung on for this long with your help. Along the way, we've made a lot of friends, lost some friends, created some great relationships and even watched some of your kids grow up. We've had a lot of help and we've had some hurt. We've ridden many miles together and had a lot of fun. We've tried to be as good and as fair as we possibly could doing 'business' with you and we will keep trying to give you the best service at the best prices we can. There's been a lot of learning and a LOT of hard work and sacrifice. I know 'Old school Mom & Pop shops' are a dying breed, which is sad. We've seen stores come and go and iconic brands close. Personally, it's been the hardest thing I've ever done and continue doing, with a few close considerations of closing and moving on BUT, you have made it possible for me to be with the love of my life everyday, you've helped get our daughter through college and on her own, you've allowed us to 'live the dream' and we've been doing it for 16 years now. SO many memories! Will we make it 17? It remains to be seen. With your help and support, we will keep going. Every little bit helps tremendously...it really does. We love bikes and seeing people out riding. Whether you ride for fitness, transportation or just for fun, whether you have a race ready machine, or a department store bike, whether your competitive or just chill, we've been here for you. It doesn't matter why or how, it's just the love of bikes and riding that brings us together. This is my 38th year working in bike shops and BOY HAVE TIMES CHANGED!
Here's to YOU! Thanks for everything, especially choosing us to work on your bikes. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. For without you, we wouldn't be here.

June has passed, July is already here....time is FLYIN' by! We have been crazy busy, thank you very much, so we are going to take a break and CLOSE on Saturday, July 4th and Sunday, July 5th to celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th birthday! We hope you all have a GREAT, SAFE and FUN time!

What a bummer. Thank YOU KHS Bicycles for being such a GREAT company to work with, it truly was like one big family. After 15 years as one of our best brands, we will truly miss you. KHS always offered great bikes at great prices and helped our small business grows. KHS cared about their 'Mom & Pop' shops more than any other through my experience.

YAY! Sunshine! So much rain lately, it's refreshing to see some sunshine finally. Besides being a little breezy, it's a GREAT day for a bike ride! Maybe even on something like this very cool, vintage Performance Salmagundi road bike. Offered as a frameset in the mid-90's by Performance, made for them by an Italian company ALAN. It's a bonded, threaded, and glued aluminum/carbon frame with an aluminum fork. It was built up with one of the first Dura-Ace brake lever/shifters (brifters) Shimano made, in 8 speeds, which are highly collectable. ALL the components are like new and from the same Dura-Ace group - The hubs, derailleurs, cassette, crankset, headset, seatpost and...the 'brifters. It's a beautiful bike and it was a gift to the 'new' owner. 'Lucky'! Like Napoleon Dynamite. It still has that older frame pump! We hope the new owner has lots of fun rides and many 'smiles per mile'. We tuned it all up, changed the pedals, added mini clips and got it ready to roll.

BIG thanks to Jason S. for bringing in his new BIG BMX bike! He brought it in a box for us to build and tune. The SE 'Big Ripper' 29'er in a beautiful, sharp-looking white. 'BIG BMX' bikes, a.k.a. 'Wheely' bikes are over-sized regular BMX bikes. Normal size wheel for BMX is 20", 24" BMX bikes we call 'cruisers' and 26", 27.5" and 29" wheels bike classify as BIG BMX bikes. Not only did we build this bike fresh out of a box, we also upgraded to a purple freewheel, that can't be seen in the picture but is really cool...we changed the front sprocket to a smaller size, and in purple, changed the pedals to ONEUP pedals and then installed MAXXIS Hookworm tires. Nice! Ready to ride and wheely 'til ya can't anymore.
