This week at Aumana, we enter the third week of our exploration of the koshas. Our focus is the Manomaya Kosha, the layer associated with the mind, thoughts, emotions, and the ways we interpret our experiences. We’ll carry this theme into our classes as an invitation to observe the inner landscape with curiosity and care.

This Thursday, October 1, is also our second Bring a Friend Thursday. Join Tricia for Gentle Flow at 5:30 pm or Janelle for Vinyasa Flow at 7 pm, and bring a friend to class for free!

The weekend continues with several special offerings:

Personal Freedom Workshop with Julia & Nancy
Saturday, October 3 • 1–5 pm • $150

Creative Current: The Poet’s Heart with Chris & Amy
Sunday, October 4 • 2–4:30 pm • $50

Candlelight Yoga & Soundbath with Pechta
Sunday, October 4 • 7–8:15 pm

Book Club at Mark & Julia’s
Monday, October 5 • 6–7:30 pm

A beautiful week of movement, rest, and connection awaits at Aumana Yoga. 🌿

This week, our classes explore Annamaya Kosha—the physical layer of our being. Sometimes called the “food body,” it reminds us that the body is formed and sustained by nourishment from the earth. Through mindful movement, breath, rest, and presence, we’ll practice listening to and caring for the body we call home.

Join us for Restorative Yoga, Gentle Flow, Vinyasa, Bhakti Flow, or Warm Sunday Morning Flow. Sunday’s Tea Ceremony with Asiya is officially sold out—we’re so grateful for the wonderful response! If you’d like to get on the waitlist, email us at [email protected].

Reserve your space at AumanaYoga.com. We’d love to practice with you. 🙏🧘❤️

Pañca kośa — the five sheaths.

Kośa means sheath: the scabbard that holds a blade. It also means treasury — the vessel that keeps something precious.

Yoga philosophy describes the Self as wrapped in five of them, each subtler than the last. Like lantern glass around a flame, they don’t make the light. They hold it, and they hide it.

Annamaya kosha — the physical body, made of food
Prāṇamaya kosha — the energy body, made of breath
Manomaya kosha — the thinking mind, made of thought
Vijñānamaya kosha — the wisdom body, made of discernment
Ānandamaya kosha — the bliss body, made of joy

At the center is ātman: the Self, unchanged beneath every layer.

The practice isn’t to strip the sheaths away. It’s to get familiar with them — to notice which one you’re living in today. Most of us spend our days in the first three and forget the last two are there at all.

Over the next five weeks we’ll spend one week with each.

Sept 13–19 · Annamaya
Sept 20–26 · Prāṇamaya
Sept 27–Oct 3 · Manomaya
Oct 4–10 · Vijñānamaya
Oct 11–17 · Ānandamaya

Come move through the layers with us. Schedule at AumanaYoga.com

SATTVA — the quality of clarity, harmony, and balance.

Sattva is the part of us that feels steady, spacious, present, and clear. It doesn’t mean life is perfectly calm. It means we’re able to meet what’s here with a little more awareness and a little less resistance.

After a full, energizing few days at Floyd Yoga Jam, this feels like the perfect quality to return to — letting all that inspiration settle, finding stillness again, and noticing what we want to carry forward.

This week at Aumana, we’re exploring what helps cultivate sattva in our practice and in daily life: mindful movement, rest, nourishing choices, truthfulness, connection, and moments of quiet.

What helps you feel most clear, peaceful, and grounded?

RAJAS — the energy of movement, passion, and action.

This week at Aumana, we’re exploring how rajas can inspire us to create, move, grow, and say yes to what lights us up.

That feels especially fitting as we get ready to close the studio September 3–6 and head to Floyd Yoga Jam. Each year, the music, movement, community, and creativity there give us fresh inspiration that we get to bring back into the studio and share with you.

Sometimes rajas is restlessness. Sometimes it’s momentum. The practice is learning how to work with that energy intentionally.
