David Marchand, PGA - St. Amant High School Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee!
St. Amant High School Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2026 will be inducted Thursday October 8th. We would like to introduce the last member of this years class: David Marchand, a 1981 honor graduate of St. Amant High School, became the first golfer from Ascension Parish to be awarded a Division I Golf Scholarship. He committed to University of Southwestern Louisiana (now UL) where he was a 4-time letter winner from 1981-1985. He was a 3-time 6-4A District Champion (1979-1981) who won or placed in all area matches he participated in. He was the Regional Champion in 1981 after finishing as the runner-up in 1980. He was on 2 occasions (1979 and 1980) honored with All-State recognition. David was also a standout in non-high school golf events during his time at STA. He was a member of the Louisiana Junior Cup Team from 1979-1981. He was the runner-up in both the Baton Rouge City Junior Championship and the Baton Rouge City Amateur Championship. Additionally, he earned third place finishes in the Southern Junior Championship, AJGA Sandestin Invitational and the Olinkraft Junior Invitational. Marchand went on to participate in several professional events. He played in 9 events on the PGA Tour, 13 events on the Kom Ferry Tour, 9 events in the PGA of America National Championships. He was a Louisiana PGA section Champion, a Gulf States PGA Section Champion. He was twice named Gulf States Professional of the year. David and his wife, Emily, have one son and reside in Gonzales.
