Neville High School Tennis

Tryouts are Monday! I am leaving the form open until 5:00 today!

Congratulations to Nic Leija! This two time state champion and one time state runner up was recently recognized by Bayou Jamb as the Tennis Player of the Year!

I was excited to recognize two of our senior players at today’s NAFA awards.

Charlotte Bolton started the tennis program at Neville and left an amazing legacy; Aaron Rosenberg was in the first class I ever taught at Neville. Both of their families have generously endowed scholarships for tennis players at Neville.

Nic Leija and Emerson Glover were both sophomores on the team when I started coaching. They’ve both been there through ups and downs: injuries, lineup changes, wins, and losses. They are two of the kindest student athletes I’ve ever known, showing friendship and leadership to the younger members of the team. They work hard on the court and in the classroom, and coaching them is a true joy.

Well, your Neville Tigers had a great run but both the girls and the boys lost in the semis to the eventual state champions from St. Thomas More.

The boys came in third in the state.

It was an awesome season and we will certainly miss our seniors.

After a day of rain delays, your Tigers are ready to take the courts tomorrow! Both boys and girls doubles still have a lot of tennis in front of them on the path to a state title!!
