Entonces dijo, “Antes de irte, ¿quieres preguntarme algo?”. Dije, simplemente, “O-Sensei, ¿que es el Aikido?”. Su respuesta fue, “Bueno, déjame que te lo escriba, y algún día podrás leerlo y entenderlo”. Lo que escribió fueron estas palabras “entrenamiento intelectual, entrenamiento físico, entrenamiento de la virtud, entrenamiento del ki. Todo esto produce sabiduría práctica”. Añadió que no funcionaría si fallaba aunque fuese uno de esos puntos, que la ausencia de cualquiera de ellos haría que todo se quedase en nada, e inevitablemente ralentizaría el desarrollo personal en su globalidad. Uno debía siempre, me dijo, mantener un equilibrio armonioso entre todos estos puntos

Kristina Tomasevic provided intensive and focused, instruction and training in Itto-den Shinki toho Kenjutsu during the Aikido-Budo seminar in Mt. Pleasant. It was an outstanding experience for all of the Aikidoka who attended.

Unintentional injury such as falls is one of the leading causes of death in any age group. The likelihood of falling and dying alone should warrant a serious study of Ukemi. I have personally fallen on 3 occasions on my bicycle going 25 mph or faster when my front tire was suddenly struck. I was surprised to find myself running next to my bike with only small, minor abrasions on my hip and shoulder. I have also slipped on ice and fell on my back, twice, with no injuries. Suzuki Sensei mentions this and other reasons to embrace ukemi.
