🏈💙 HOW DOES THE METRO FOOTBALL LEAGUE DRAFT WORK? 💙🏈
We've heard some questions about how our teams are formed each season, so we thought we'd take a moment to explain our draft process!
At Metro, we take pride in providing a fair and competitive environment for ALL of our young athletes!
🔵 A NEW DRAFT EVERY YEAR!
Our teams are completely redrafted each season. No team simply carries over its entire roster from the previous year.
🏈 DRAFT ORDER DRAWN FROM A HAT!
Before the draft begins, our draft order is determined by literally drawing at random from a hat, right in front of all the coaches! Every team has the same opportunity, and nobody knows where they'll be selecting until the names are drawn.
🔵 SNAKE DRAFT FORMAT!
We use a snake draft, meaning the selection order reverses each round. If a team selects last in one round, they'll select first in the next. This helps balance opportunities throughout the draft.
🏈 EVERY COACH HAS THE SAME OPPORTUNITY!
All head coaches sit together in the same room and select their players in front of one another. Every team follows the exact same draft process, with no preferential treatment.
💙 SO WHY DO SOME TEAMS HAVE CONTINUED SUCCESS?
Building a successful football team involves much more than selecting players on draft day. Coaching, preparation, teamwork, player development, dedication, and hard work all play important roles in what happens on the field.
At the end of the day, our goal is to give every child the opportunity to learn, grow, compete, and enjoy the great game of football.
