Friendly reminder: Control is key! Slamming the carriage usually means you’ve lost a little control, and those hard landings can damage our machines.

Slow it down, engage your core, and remember: it’s not about how fast you move, it’s about how well you control it.

But don’t worry, even if you slam the carriage… we still ❤️ you.😝

What is the difference between Lagree and Pilates? Let’s start with the machine. If you’ve ever looked at a Lagree machine and thought, “That looks like a Pilates Reformer,” we have some context behind why!

The Pilates Reformer was actually part of the original inspiration in the late 90’s. But Sebastien Lagree, founder of Lagree Fitness and creator of the Lagree Method, recognized limitations in the Reformer when it came to the type of strength training he envisioned for the Lagree Method.

So he set out to develop something different: specialized equipment designed to support slow, controlled movements, continuous resistance, and serious muscular endurance.

That innovation eventually led to Lagree’s patented machines. At our studio, we use the Mini Pro, designed specifically for the Lagree Method.

Why are we sharing this?

Because we believe you should know exactly what you’re signing up for when you book a class at our studio. It’s LAGREE not Pilates.

We’re starting a new educational series to help you understand the method, the equipment, and the experience, one topic at a time.

First up: The machine. Next up: What makes the workout unique.
