After 52 1/2 years we have closed our retail operation. But I will keep writing about bikes, books, travel, food, opinions and thoughts about life in general.

QUOTE FOR THE DAY

Riding a bicycle is about getting back to basics. It's good for the waistline and it's good for the wallet, is what I'm saying.

VIDEO NO.2-- COMING IN TO LAND AT WILEY POST FROM THE NORTH

Forward visibility in the Stearman is not that good. I mostly looked to either side of the open cockpit.

BY REQUEST, HERE ARE COUPLE OF VIDEOS FROM THIS MORNING'S FLIGHT IN AN 83 YEAR OLD STEARMAN PT-13 BIPLANE

This video covers from takeoff until we are over Yukon about 5 minutes later (sorry, no commentary-- it was too noisy).

I had a friend years ago named Jim Nelson. He told me that his most vivid childhood memory was seeing a B-24 4-engine bomber fly over Yukon along Route 66 between and below the tops of the grain elevators on either side. I tried to get tje pilot today to do that but we decided the FAA would not approve! You can see the elevators toward the end of the video.

You also get a good look at Lake Overholser and a glimpse of Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge.

QUOTE FOR THE DAY

It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow.

LAST TUESDAY'S POST ABOUT THE HISTORIC AIRCRAFT AT WILEY POST AIRPORT WENT OVER QUITE WELL SO HERE IS A WALK THROUGH OF THE PLANES

The $20 entry charge allows you to see and learn a lot of fascinating history! I have another video of a gentleman giving a fascinating history of the B-29 in general and this plane in particular. It's quite lengthy so you might come out and hear it for yourself. It's well worth the $20!
