Here’s an important message from our friends at NHTSA:
Zero exceptions: The ONLY way to prevent hot car tragedies is to ensure a child is never left inside a vehicle alone. ❌⏲️

The 2026-2027 school year is just around the corner, and Kansas Troopers are still in the thick of making sure your student has safe transportation.
During the summer, all school vehicles that transport children go through rigorous inspections to make sure they’re ready for another year. Troopers inspect vehicle equipment & mechanics check to make sure those wheels on the bus go round and round!
We make sure their ride is safe, but the rest of the motoring public needs to remember :
🛑 STOP 🛑 when those red lights are flashing. There’s even a stop sign too that pops out to remind you!
⚠️ Use Caution ⚠️ as children are getting on or off their bus.

On Tuesday evening around 8:30 pm troopers had prior knowledge of a 1999 Chevy Silverado that had previously fled multiple times from KCK PD Officers. The tag on the Silverado belongs on a Chevy Cruze.
A trooper located the vehicle as it was southbound on 18th Street when it passed them on a traffic stop. The trooper initiated a stop near 12th & Kansas, but the driver fled. The vehicle was briefly pursued before the Grappler was successfully deployed.
The driver tried to drive out of it, but was unsuccessful. The pursuit came to an end near Ferree Street & Kansas Avenue where the driver was arrested without incident. The driver's 9 year old son was also in the vehicle, and was unharmed during the incident. He was later released to his adult sister who arrived on scene. The driver was found to have an active felony warrant out of WYCO for Felony Probation Violation-Possession of M**h. The warrant was confirmed.
The driver was lodged at WYCO jail for felony fleeing or attempting to elude, aggravated endangering a child, possession of stolen property, driving while suspended, no insurance, and switched tag.
