HOGS & AGGIES.

In a series Arkansas leads 42-37, it hasn’t been very pretty in the last decade. The term “Heartbreak Hogs” arguably originated from this series. If Arkansas wants to become the “Hopeful Hogs”, Coach Silverfield has to figure out a way to run the football.

Running the football has been a mystery. The Razorbacks are the only team in the FBS without a 100-yard rusher. That statistic is not a recipe to win football games.

Texas A&M comes into this game on a two-game losing skid. Wouldn’t it be fun to put the nail in their coffin in front of 100,000 of their closest friends?

A win!

Arkansas did what they should’ve done against an inferior opponent. It was never really a contest that the home team was in jeopardy of losing. The Hogs committed fewer turnovers (1 to 2), committed fewer penalties (2 to 9), and won the Special Teams battle with Max Gilbert nailing all four of his field goal attempts and the kick coverage team recovering a surprise onside kick attempt. Good all the way around.

Kudos to KJ Jackson, too. While it hasn’t been the smoothest sailing for the third-year QB, he may have just had the most complete game of his career last night. 309 yards through the air and three all-purpose touchdowns isn’t too shabby.

And nothing new, but Ben Bogle is such a stud.

Lights! I was very pleased with the quality of our new lighting system. I truly felt like it amped up the atmosphere and I could get a sense that the players were feeding off the extra energy as well.

And kudos to Bobby Bones on honoring the $2,800 donation to Arkansas’ NIL fund. He pledged to donate $100 for every 1 point the Hogs win by in all games going forward. What a guy. Keep up the Hog blogs, Bobby.

College Station looms next week. They’ve dropped back-to-back games against conference opponents.

Here we go. Gameday. Lights.

It’s a series that goes all the way back to 1899 when the Razorbacks defeated the Golden Hurricanes by a score of 11-0. Yes, that is correct. And yes, whatever combination got you to 11 points is likely how it was accomplished. For me, I’ll choose to go with three field goals and a safety.

The Hogs own the series lead over Tulsa 55-16-3. The last time these two teams played, Arkansas pitched a shutout in Connor Noland’s first career start.

This is a really solid Tulsa team. It is one that defeated Oklahoma State in Week 1, who then went on to beat Oregon in Week 2. While they have a good team, Arkansas has the clear talent advantage. According to 247Sports’ Team Talent Composite Rankings, Arkansas ranks 29th in the country while Tulsa ranks 79th. We can say all we want about funding for this team, but it is absolutely inexcusable to not win this football game. With that being said, would anybody really be surprised if we lost this football game?

Nobody wants to win a $500 Blakeman's Fine Jewelry gift certificate apparently. All you have to do is correctly predict the score and you will get entered into a pool of other people who also predicted the score correct. It’s like a country club, but cooler.

Another Arkansas Razorback football game was played on Saturday. It was pretty non-eventful. It was even encouraging considering it wasn’t a complete splattering.

While it wasn’t a complete disaster, I found a tweet from Andrew Hutchinson that brought me back to total sadness. See below:

The 17 rushing yards obtained were also the fewest since the LSU game in 2018.

But somehow, from everything that transpired, it still didn’t feel that bad. And that, my friends, is the problem. We have sunken to a place where being down 35 points at home somehow didn’t feel that bad. That’s major problem.

The QB carousel isn’t helping anybody. I lost track of how many times we swapped KJ and AJ yesterday. Nobody can gain any continuity and the confidence of KJ and AJ isn’t growing. It was a borderline circus and gives me nightmares to 2018 and 2019.

10 point favorites for a night game against a sneaky good Tulsa team on Saturday. Hope we can figure out a way to run the football.

Gameday on the Hill.

What a week it has been for Razorback nation on the Twitter-verse. From Ms Lisa, to the head of marketing, to Bobby Bones, there has been no shortage of activity from all four corners of the state.

This all leads to a game in which nobody is giving the home team a chance, and for very good reason. The Hogs were completely outclassed by a Utah Ute club last week. Georgia looks like they are ready to compete for another national championship.
