It’s official — the Fly Fishing Film Tour is coming back to Phoenix!

I’m really excited about what we’ve put together this year. On September 20th, we’ll be bringing the 20th Annual Fly Fishing Film Tour to the Desert Botanical Garden.

For me, this event has become about a lot more than just watching some great fly fishing films. It’s an opportunity to get our fly fishing and outdoor community together for an evening, see some old friends, make some new ones, eat some good food, win some great prizes, and celebrate something we all enjoy.

We’ll have the Film Tour, dinner, raffles, giveaways, live music, and over $10,000 in prizes.

I’m also really proud that this year we’re continuing our partnership with Wildlife for Tomorrow, with proceeds from the event helping support wildlife and conservation here in Arizona.

Registration is officially OPEN for the 6th Annual Valley of the Sun Carp Rally!

What started six years ago as a bunch of us chasing carp around the Valley has grown into the largest urban fly-fishing rally in the Valley and one of my favorite weekends of the year.

This year’s rally runs for 24 hours:

10 AM Saturday, September 19 → 10 AM Sunday, September 20.

Two-person teams.
Biggest fish.
Most fish.
Bragging rights.
And some pretty awesome trophies.

Then Sunday afternoon we all get together at the Desert Botanical Garden for the Fly Fishing Film Tour, awards, food, raffles and more than $10,000 in prizes.

Only 25 team spots are available, and I wouldn’t wait too long on this one.

$200 per team, which includes two Film Tour tickets, two T-shirts and swag bags.

Sometimes the smallest water creates the biggest memories.

I got a chance to take two of my nephews into a part of the Arizona backcountry they had never been to before and spend the day doing a little exploring and fly fishing.

We found some beautiful little water, caught a few wild brown trout, saw plenty of dragonflies, and just had a great day exploring some new country together.

I’ve been fortunate to catch a lot of fish in a lot of incredible places, but I still really enjoy days like this. Small creeks, wild trout, nobody around, and getting to share a place I love with a couple of young guys who had never experienced this part of Arizona before.

Sometimes I think we get so focused on the fish that we forget how much of fly fishing is really about where it takes us and who we get to share it with.

The fish don’t have to be big for the memories to be. 🎣
