Let’s get to know Aravaipa Racing Team member !

In his second year on the Racing Team, Joe is not just a mountain biking enthusiast but also an accomplished trail runner—fun fact, he started with trail running first! Here’s more about Joe:

🛠 Job: IT Security Analyst
📍 Lives in: San Tan Valley, AZ (moved here in 2016 for the weather!)
🏃‍♂️ Started trail running: Shortly after moving to AZ and fell in love with the sport and Aravaipa’s events.
🚵‍♂️ First MTB race: 2020, after discovering mountain biking in 2019.
🏋️‍♂️ Hobbies: Dogs, motorcycles, whiskey, food, weightlifting, all things outdoors, and bikes with pedals!

💍 Biggest event of 2025: Getting married in March!
🎯 Upcoming Races: Whiskey Offroad in April, Aravaipa Rides night races, Tour of the White Mountains, and the Jackass 31k in October (which he’s already sort of regretting 😅).

Oh, and Joe has an idea… What do you all think of an Aravaipa off-road duathlon? Trail run, mountain bike, trail run. 😉

We’re so excited to have Joe on the team and can’t wait to cheer him on this season!

We can’t wait to host you all on the Marvelous, Maricopa Trail, while benefiting it at the same time with all proceeds going right back into the care of this incredible stretch of paradise cared for by the non-profit Maricopa Trail + Parks Foundation.

Sunday, January 19 for the 36 Mile from 7: 00AM-8:30 AM at Flat Tire Bike Shop and for the 15 Mile from 8:00AM-9:00AM at Lane 10 Boat Ramp (Finish line and shuttle pick up spot)

Our event staff and volunteers are absolutely stoked to be “in the office” today, aka hard at work, outside enjoying gorgeous weather and trails, course marking and setting up for this weekend’s trio of events at McDowell Mountain Regional Park; McDowell Mountain Frenzy, Mayhem Night Trail, and Frenzy Hills Rides!

Applications for the 2025 Aravaipa Racing Team are now open!

𝘽𝙄𝙂𝙂𝙀𝙍 𝙉𝙀𝙒𝙎! Runners who reside in Arizona, California, Utah, Colorado, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island or New York may apply!

Prefer wheels 🛞 to running shoes? 👟 Mountain bikers must live in Arizona or Colorado!

The Aravaipa Racing Team represents Aravaipa at competitive running and mountain biking races worldwide, and although all are welcome to apply, selection is primarily based on competitive track record and potential above other factors. Athletes that have made the team in the past are generally winning local races and placing in the top 10 of nationally competitive races, and most have a strong multi-year history of performing at this level.

Applications are due by December 3rd, and link to apply can be found below now.

Made up of less technical trails, this 25 mile loop includes the best of McDowell’s flow trails and trust us when we say, you’ll love it!
