We have had such an influx of players we have decided to add another day in the West Valley. If you have not found the right fit for your player, we would welcome you to see if West Valley Surf is the right for you

Ed Smith - Head Coach - Boys West Valley U-16

I bring over 35 years of experience in the game and more than a decade of proven success in the club soccer environment. My background includes development within a German youth club system, followed by extensive experience in U.S. youth and club soccer, and competition at the collegiate level at Salem International University.

With 10+ years of club coaching experience, I have developed players across multiple competitive levels. I specialize in building technically sharp, tactically intelligent players who can perform in high-pressure, competitive environments.

My training model emphasizes high standards, attention to detail, and a professional approach to player development.
Every session is designed to demand intensity, accountability, and consistency, preparing athletes to compete and succeed at the next level.

I hold U.S. Soccer grassroots coaching licenses (7v7, 9v9, 11v11)

I am committed to creating a competitive, disciplined environment where expectations are clear, and players are pushed to reach their full potential. My goal is to develop complete players who are prepared for elite competition and advancement within the game.

We’re thrilled to announce Coach Hugo Vega to our new coaching staff as the Head Coach for 2014/2013 Girls West Valley. Coach Hugo brings experience playing at a high level in Mexico and in the US.

Hugo’s coaching experience includes five years at a Phoenix middle school, serving as head coach for a professional Women’s AZ futsal team that won the National Championship, and extensive experience coaching at the club level. He has developed players who are preparing for or currently playing at collegiate and professional levels. His dedication and passion for player development is widely respected.

Hugo holds US Youth Soccer Grassroots licenses and is currently working towards his D license.
