Meet our August Volunteer Spotlight - Sam!

We'd be honored to have you as part of our crew - volunteer roles include lesson help (leading & sidewalking), barn work, and special events.

Another busy and fun camp day today! Super proud of our campers, horses, and human team - days like today are why we do what we do!

In addition to arena work, we are blessed to have areas for trail riding - and this time of year is especially fun as we are able to ride along the wildflowers. Whether in a saddle or ba****ck, riding through the trails helps to work on balance & coordination on different terrains, spatial and situational awareness, and so much more!

There is something really special about hearing a kiddo giggle and laugh simply because of how it feels to ride a horse! 🥰

Did you know - horses have a rhythmical and symmetrical 3-dimensional movement that mimics a human walk? This movement helps to strengthen and condition muscles, improves balance and coordination, provides low impact exercise, and so much more! Along with our tailored lesson plans unique to each participant, we also purposefully pick which horse will be the best teammate for our participants largely based off of how big (or little) their movement is and their personality.

Today was a great day with our 4-8 year old campers! Thank you to our incredible volunteers, horses and staff for helping the day flow smoothly for all the kiddos - lots of smiles were had by all!

Buttons & Duke want you all to know that we are starting the search for another equine teammate to add to the herd as we expand our program services! We are looking for either a care lease or purchase of the right horse. Do you know a horse who may be a good fit?

*13-14.2 Hand Gelding
*8-15 years old
*Sound and able to be ridden walk, trot both independently by beginner riders and leadline with sidewalkers
*Safe ground manners when being led and crosstied
*Comfortable both in the arena and on the trail
*Some maintenance is okay
*Enjoys being interacted with by multiple people
*Comfortable with unexpected noises/movements

We have a couple of openings remaining for our summer day camp on Friday, August 7 from 9am-3pm for our 13-18 year old age group! This camp is open to the general public and is filled with both mounted and unmounted horsemanship activities. We wrapped up another fun session of Unbridled Courage with a great group! From doing horsemanship activities with parents to trail rides to performing a drill team routine, smiles and growth were had by all!
