Get to Know the Sports Park Team: Meet Coach Brian

A lot happens behind the scenes to keep the Sports Park running—and our coaches and instructors play a big part.

This month, we're highlighting Coach Brian Cowell, who leads hockey lessons through North State Hockey Lab. Coach Brian works with players looking to build skills, boost confidence, and become better hockey players.

Brian brings over 30 years of experience playing and coaching both roller and ice hockey (including past stints with junior and regional programs like the Sacramento Rivermen and Redding Roadrunners).

Whether you're learning the fundamentals or looking to sharpen your game, his lessons are a great way to make the most of your time on the rink.

New Lights Are Shining -Better Visibility. Better Games. Better Practices!

Field 1 (formerly Wrigley Field) now has new lighting, a major upgrade for teams that use the field for games and practices. The new lights will help provide more consistent visibility across the playing surface, making evening games and practices easier for athletes, coaches, and spectators.

Thanks to the Redding Parks and Trails Division, the Sports Park has also added new fencing to support youth tournament games. The fencing creates a more defined playing area and improves tournament setup for teams, players, and spectators.

These projects further invest in making the Sports Park a better place to play, practice, and compete.
