This weekend I decided to do something I don’t do often enough—shop local. 🎣

I made my way through my hometown of Ripley, Mississippi, checking out Freemans & Co. Market looking through fishing tackle. There’s just something different about walking into a local store, talking fishing with folks who know the area, and finding that one lure or rod you didn’t know you needed until you saw it. 😎

Every tackle shop has its own personality, and you never know what hidden gems you might find hanging on the pegboard. From bass baits to crappie tackle, it’s always worth taking a look around and supporting the businesses that support our community.

Now I’ve got a question for my fishing friends…

Ever notice how a little break can make all the difference? 🎣

With Tippah Lake closed for a bit, I had a feeling those fish were getting a chance to relax from all the pressure. So today, I slipped out for just an hour to see if my theory held water.

Well… let’s just say the fish were definitely in a better mood! 😎🐟

In a short hour, I managed to catch several fish and enjoyed every minute of it. Sometimes it’s not about spending all day on the water—it’s about making the most of the time you have and appreciating those moments when everything seems to come together.

Now the question is… was it the lake closure, the lure, or just being in the right place at the right time? 🤔
