New Beginners classes starting this week! For the holidays I'll teach the 16th, 30th and Dec 7th, then keep going every Wednesday in the new year. Let me know if you want to join us!

Date: Sunday October 9th

Beginner Level Cuadro Class: 4:00-5:30.

In this class I will break down how a Cuadro Flamenco works. This will include Palmas,Cante,Guitar and dance. Each of you will have the opportunity to work on this. You will need to bring a notebook to write down Cante Lyrics.

Intermediate Level Cuadro Class: 6:00-7:30. Only 6 Students per class for this level.

This will be the same style class we had before. For this class you will need to have at least 1 full choreography and have some performing experience. No exceptions on this. If you don't have a full choreography we can work on this in private lessons. The purpose of this class is to get you to advance in your Baile as a solo dancer and at the same time be able to accompany others.
Pick 2 parts of your Baile that you would like to work on. Prior to the class I would like for you to let me know what Palo you would like to work on. This way the singer is ready.

Hola all, I've been playing Pilar's cd for warmup recently. At one point I sold it in class, anyway, here it is from Amazon. It's a very favorite, not only because I know the artist, but because this is more the way flamenco sounds in town than some CD from Spain. It's your 'home' sound. :-) And an excellent track for practicing bulerias!

One month ago today, we lost our beloved Paco Sevilla. He touched the lives of so many of us, with his wonderful music, his sense of humor, and most of all, his contributions to this art form. His passion for sharing everything he could about flamenco, not only in person but through all his books and magazines, is unrivaled. He was a pioneer of flamenco in America. I will miss him so much, and in every class and every show. Most of all, I will miss his friendship. Whenever I saw him, I knew that there was a friend. Every time he walked into a room, I knew I had an ally, someone to share my point of view, and laugh at the foibles of life. We will hold a memorial of his life on Sunday, May 16th, 2:00pm at Basilio’s outdoor amphitheater. We will also honor Paul Runyan, who also passed away this year. Let me know if you plan to come so we can keep a head count (wear a mask, keep socially distanced). Gracias to all
