Lucie Rathbun is an elite ultrarunner and desert rat based in the Western Slope of Colorado. She comes to running from a long background in climbing, where she ticked a number of 5.14 routes and V10 boulders before turning her attention to new goals on the trails. Drawn to long jaunts along ragged mesa rims and through dusty red canyons, Lucie loves the challenge and the privilege of finding flow, distilling life down to the basics in a way that only feels possible after hours on her feet. With a background in sports psychology, she’s especially fascinated by the mental side of endurance and the ways athletes use movement to seek presence in the age of chronic overstimulation. When she’s not running, Lucie works in outdoor media, and spends her free time writing, drawing, painting, and spoiling her dog. Lucie is stoked beyond measure to join the Speedland Elite Team because it presents an opportunity to combine her athletic and creative sides, and leave a mark on the running community that means more than any place on a podium (though that’s always nice too).

Speedland Race Highlights… Congrats to Natalie Sandoval and Jill Dennes!

Natalie ran a smoking fast time of 2:34:38 to take 1st overall in the Whiskey Basin 33K.

Jill was 2nd Female in the Hyner 50K in 5:17:40. A week earlier Jill was also 3rd Female in the BPN G1M Last Man Standing. She completed 28 Full Laps and 117.6 Miles.

Speedland’s first tactical boot commission, the XB:BLK, is back in stock after a quick sell out.

Built on a rugged trail running platform, the XB:BLK was designed in collaboration with Speedland athlete to solve a real problem he experienced during long bowhunting trips. Cam’s style of hunting often requires multi-day treks where the ability to move fast and stay protected are of paramount importance while navigating off-grid, backcountry terrain.

He needed something with the profile and performance of a trail running shoe, combined with the protection and durability of a hunting boot. From a design perspective, this was a problem we could sink our teeth into.

The XB:BLK offers Speedland’s trail running DNA in a new form factor - a hightop boot suitable for every outdoor pursuit.
