2026-2027 Dayton Stealth Hockey Coach’s Spotlight 🏒

Coach William Wells– 10U A2

🏒Tell us a little about your hockey background and coaching experience:

My hockey journey began in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, where I played from Mini Mites through High School. A highlight of my playing career was my senior season under coach Bill Wells, where our team captured an impressive 33-1-1 record and swept every tournament we entered. Throughout my playing years, I focused on mastering a style of play defined by strong skating, creative puck possession, and relentless teamwork. This marks my second year with the Stealth organization after serving as an Assistant Coach for the 10U B team last season. Beyond the rink, I am a dedicated multi-sport coach, currently coaching a Beavercreek Sox baseball team, and I bring over 10 years of coaching experience across hockey, baseball, softball, and soccer.

💙What do you love most about coaching?

What I love most is the "Family Concept" and watching a team grow a selfless, tight-knit culture. I love helping young athletes discover their strengths on the ice and finding the exact right position where they can thrive. There is nothing better than watching a group of kids put in the repetition, build chemistry, and watch their hard work translate into confidence both on and off the ice.

🥅What are you most excited for this year?

I am incredibly excited to implement an advanced system of hockey with this group—focusing on our "Bread and Butter" play and a relentless, high-pressure three-forward rotation. We've put together a phenomenal, experienced coaching staff with Assistant Coaches Bill Wells and Mikhayla, alongside on-ice helpers Brad Pegg and Michael Poor. I am thrilled to get on the ice with this group and build the hardest-skating, most conditioned, and most disciplined team in the league.

Coach Andrew McLachlan– 10U A1

🏒Tell us a little about your hockey background and coaching experience:

I have been coaching with Stealth since 2021 and have coached at 8U, 10U, 12U and Starter Stealth.

💙What do you love most about coaching?

My favorite part of coaching is seeing players' confidence grow: when they make a play at the blueline instead of dumping it in, when they make a great regroup play and generate a scoring chance, when they score a goal and point at the player who gave the assist.

🥅What are you most excited for this year?

We have a mix of familiar faces and new team members. I can't wait to see how they come together and build relationships.

Coach Tyler Merritt – 12U A2

🏒Tell us a little about your hockey background and coaching experience:

I grew up playing in the Dayton area and then played in the AAA Bluejackets organization. I have coached for ten years at various age and skill levels.

💙What do you love most about coaching?

I love coaching because I love seeing how the team gets to know each other and watching a player gain confidence throughout the season.

🥅What are you most excited for this year?

I’m excited to watch this group grow together over the course of a season. Every team develops its own identity, and I’m looking forward to the kids finding theirs along the way.

2026-2027 Dayton Stealth Hockey Coach’s Spotlight 🏒

Coach Marc Schneider - 12U AA

🏒 Tell us a little about your hockey background and coaching experience:

I've been coaching youth hockey for more than 12 years and have had the privilege of working with players from Learn to Play through 16U AA, including as both a head coach and assistant coach with the Dayton Stealth and with the Cincinnati Swords organizations. Throughout my coaching journey, I've been fortunate to learn from many outstanding coaches and mentors who have helped shape my philosophy and approach to player development.

♥️ What do you love most about coaching?

The relationships are what make coaching so rewarding. I enjoy getting to know each player and family throughout the season and building an environment where players are challenged and excited to come to the rink.

Watching players develop over the course of a season is incredibly rewarding. Whether it's learning a new skill, becoming more comfortable in different game situations, or seeing the team come together, it's exciting to watch the progress that comes from consistent effort and a willingness to learn.

Hockey provides countless opportunities to teach lessons that extend beyond the game. I hope our players leave each season with a stronger appreciation for teamwork, perseverance, respect for others, and the value of putting in the work to improve every day.

🥅 What are you most excited for this year?

I'm looking forward to working with a great group of players and families who are excited to learn, compete, and enjoy the season together. Building strong relationships with both our players and parents is something I look forward to because I believe the best experiences happen when everyone is working toward the same goal. I'm grateful for the opportunity to coach this group and look forward to another exciting season with our Dayton Stealth family.
