Parents and Coaches,
We regret to inform you that this weekend’s Virginia Challenge Wrestling event has been cancelled due to insufficient athlete registration.
Virginia Challenge Wrestling is committed to providing a quality competitive experience for every wrestler who participates in our events. Our goal is to ensure that athletes have the opportunity to compete in multiple matches against a variety of opponents, with adequate participation in each weight class.
Unfortunately, several weight classes have only one registered athlete. Addressing these numbers would require combining weight classes, potentially resulting in just two wrestlers competing against each other in a best-of-three series. In some instances, those wrestlers would even be teammates. We do not believe this format would provide the competitive experience our wrestlers, families, and coaches deserve.
After careful consideration, we determined that proceeding with the event would not meet the standards we have established for Virginia Challenge Wrestling. This was not an easy decision, but we believe it is the right one for our wrestling community.
Trackwrestling / FLO refunds will be issued to your original method of payment. Please allow 3–5 business days for the refund to be processed.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support. Your participation and support of Virginia Challenge Wrestling allow us to give back to the sport we all love, including sponsoring the Virginia Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and providing support and equipment for the Virginia Duals and VHSL Regional and State Wrestling Championships.
Thank you for being part of the Virginia Challenge Wrestling family. We look forward to seeing you at future events and continuing to provide the high-quality wrestling opportunities our athletes deserve.
In Wrestling,
John Bostwick
Vice President
