Random thought in my head and on to this post. Here goes:
Many don't see/know/understand the work the Goalkeeper does in training just to make that ONE save needed in a game. Scraps, abrasion, pounding, loading, etc....
A strikers shoots the ball over and over and over and over again just to make that 1 goal needed in a game.
Both positions very important. All positions very important.
How many strikers can jump into a GK session for an hour and complete it? Not many
How many goalkeepers can jump into a shooting session and complete it? Many
One isn't more important then the other however, what is important is that i want to see/feel/witness more: RESPECT.
RESPECT for the GOALKEEPER POSITION especially more so from HEAD COACHES.
Any head coach who still poo-poos on the GK position thinking it isn't as important, should not be coaching any soccer teams. The decision maker of the team who feels one position (most important) is less of an investment is ignorant.
You are not going far with your team if your not respecting, protecting and investing in your quarterback, your pitcher and your GOALKEEPER! oh and by the way, it's not goalie and its not GOALPLAYER. Instead of redefining the position, lets PUT MORE INTO THE ACTUAL POSITION. THE 'GOALKEEPER' POSITION.
YUP, i SAID IT!
HAVE A GREAT GOALKEEPER WEEK!!!!!!
OH, PS... A GOALKEEPER INVESTS OVER $400 A YEAR IN JUST THEIR GLOVES TO HELP THEIR TEAMMATES WIN IN ADDITION TO THE EVERYTHING ELSE....
