The curtain has closed on Steps to Higher Ground and our first dance season! 🪩🧑🏿🩰🧑🏾🩰🧑🏽🩰🧑🏼🩰
This past weekend held two nights of Stevie Wonder’s music, carried by dancers who left everything out there. Every step, every smile, every moment of nerves turning into pure joy.
We laughed. We cried. We heard this room erupt in cheers shaking the walls!
This is what intentional training looks like, not just technique, but heart. Not just steps, but stories.
To every dancer: we see how hard you worked to get here, and we’re so proud of who you’re becoming.
To every family, friend, and neighbor who filled that room, thank you! This show doesn’t happen without you.
From first steps to higher ground. We’re just getting started.🎊🥳

Buy A Brick-Name Engraved Opportunity 2026
New Tacoma Neighborhood Council along with Parks Tacoma and Sister Cities is working on improving and restoring the Thea Foss Park Globe. You can help and also put your mark on Tacoma, by buying a brick to get your name engraved on.
This is known as the peace plaza and was created after 9/11 as a moment of peace with our 18 sister city's from around the world and the Puyallup Tribe.

What happens when young people are given a stage, a story, and the belief that they can do something extraordinary?
You get Steps to Higher Ground.
This performance is the culmination of months of hard work, courage, and growth. Through dance and the music of Stevie Wonder, our students tell stories about belonging, kindness, resilience, and finding the strength to keep moving forward.
Some of these dancers are stepping onto a stage for the very first time. Others are discovering new confidence in themselves with every rehearsal.
We hope you’ll join us—not just to watch a show, but to witness young people rising.
