Another great CCW weekend in the books! 🎯

We had an awesome group come through this weekend—great conversations in the classroom, plenty of hands-on training, and another group of students who showed up ready to learn and delivered when it came time to qualify.
But CCW Week isn’t over yet.

If the weekend didn’t work with your schedule, we still have our weekday CCW class coming up:

Whether you’re starting your California CCW or coming back for your renewal, the goal is bigger than simply passing a qualification. We want you leaving with a better understanding of the laws, responsibilities, mindset, and skills that come with carrying a firearm.

Understanding how we influence the firearm is the first step in building that relationship with YOUR firearm.

This single shot drill exposes our tendencies while firing, thus allowing us to establish a baseline, and begin applying proper corrections.

After learning how we influence the firearm via the single shot drill, we move into controlled doubles, helping us learn how to maintain a proper grip and keeping target focused while firing.

By demanding precision in our training we will get acceptable in the real world!

Last but not least, QUALIFICATION TIME!

For Riverside County residents this is where they put their skills to the test putting 6 rounds on the silhouette from 7, 10 and 15 yards for a total of 18 rounds.

Needless to say, I’ve never had a student even come close to failing, but this is why proper training and proficiency matter.

Congratulations to our newest group of responsible concealed carriers.

Throughout the weekend we covered far more than just the qualification. We spent time discussing California law, use of force, situational awareness, conflict avoidance, and the mindset that comes with carrying a firearm responsibly.

On the range, every student rose to the occasion and demonstrated the confidence and consistency we’ve been building throughout the course.

📢 AB 1948 UPDATE

After sharing information on AB 1948, I wanted to provide an important update based on the final chaptered version of the bill.

During the legislative process, an earlier version of AB 1948 had proposed renewals “not to exceed up to 6 years.”
However, before the bill was finalized, the Legislature amended the language since leaving the senate.

Huge catch by Pivot Fi****ms as this is a good reminder that bills can change significantly throughout the legislative process. “I didn’t know” doesn’t count when it comes to CCW’s.

The final version of AB 1948 now provides:
✔️ Initial CCW Permit: Up to 3 years
✔️ CCW Renewal: Up to 3 years

Still a huge victory but there is still more information to follow. Since emailing Riverside Sheriff for clarification and effective date I have received the following:

“At this time, we are waiting on some clarification and directions from DOJ and Sheriff’s Administration. We should have some information in the following months with enough time before the effective date of January 1, 2027.”

We’re truly fortunate to have a CCW Unit as involved as Riverside Sheriff’s, they got back to me immediately. More info to follow!
