Congratulations to Dean Vomacka, PGA of Omni Tucson National Resort, on capturing the 2026 Southern Arizona Chapter Pro Series at The Gallery Golf Club with an outstanding two-day total of 135 (-9). Dean opened with a brilliant 66 (-6) on the North Course before closing with a 69 (-3) on the South Course, holding off a tightly contested leaderboard to earn the victory.

Congratulations as well to Rich Elias, PGA Life Member, on winning the Senior Series after posting great rounds of 68 (-4) and 73 (+1) for a two-day total of 141 (-3).

Thirty PGA Professionals competed over two days in challenging conditions, battling humid weather and lightning delays during the opening round before taking on both of The Gallery’s championship layouts. Competitors played the North Course on day one before finishing on the South Course for the final round.

A special thank you to our host professionals, Director of Golf, Mike Russell, PGA, and First Assistant, Jared Rogers, along with the entire team at The Gallery Golf Club for their hospitality and for hosting another exceptional Southern Arizona Chapter event.

Congratulations to Dean Vomacka, PGA of Omni Tucson National Resort on capturing the 2026 Southern Arizona Chapter Senior Championship at Tubac Golf Resort & Spa after an exciting two-hole playoff.

Dean put together an outstanding two-day performance with rounds of 67-68 (135, 9-under par). His championship was highlighted by 13 birdies over the 36-hole competition.

Congratulations as well to Mike Russell, PGA of The Gallery Golf Club, who matched Dean at 9-under par to force the playoff and provided a thrilling finish to one of the Southern Arizona Chapter’s premier Major Championships.

A special thank you to Martin Bringas and Green Valley Automotive for their partnership in helping increase the professional purse for this championship. Their support continues to elevate our events and provide added value for our PGA Professionals.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Kristie Fowler, PGA, our Host Professional, along with the entire team at Tubac Golf Resort & Spa for their outstanding hospitality and for hosting the championship for our Chapter.

The Southern Arizona Chapter PGA is incredibly proud of Chris Dompier, PGA, and everything he accomplished this week at the U.S. Senior Open Championship!

Competing at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, Chris took on a demanding championship setup. The firm conditions, lightning-fast greens, and penal rough provided a true test and showcased the best senior players in the world.

Beyond his play, Chris continues to represent with professionalism and humility. He is an outstanding role model for his students, fellow PGA Professionals, and everyone fortunate enough to know him. Watching one of our own compete on one of golf’s biggest stages is something our entire Chapter can celebrate.

Congratulations to one of our very own Southern AZ Chapter Professionals, Chris Dompier, on earning a spot to compete in the 2026 U.S Senior Open Championship!

TUCSON, Ariz. — Skyline Country Club is proud to announce that its Director of Golf, Chris Dompier, has earned a coveted spot in the 2026 U.S. Senior Open Championship, one of the most prestigious tournaments in senior professional golf. Chris is the first Director of Golf from a Tucson country club to qualify for the championship in decades.

Dompier secured his place in the championship field through the rigorous qualifying process, joining an elite group of golfers who will compete for one of the most respected titles in the game. The achievement marks a significant milestone in Dompier's distinguished golf career and brings national recognition to Skyline Country Club and the Tucson golf community.

Known throughout the Southwest as both an accomplished player, a respected golf professional, and a nationally recognized PGA Jr. Golf leader/coach, Dompier has served as Skyline Country Club's Director of Golf while helping elevate the Club's golf operations, member programming, and player development initiatives. His passion for the game, combined with years of competitive experience, has earned him the admiration of members, guests, and fellow golf professionals alike.

Congratulations to Chris Dompier & Reece Nilsen on their first place tie in today’s Pro Series event with rounds of 71, and to Jim Sobb on his first place finish in the Senior Series with a round of 75.

A total of 31 PGA Professionals competed across both Chapter events, and it was great to see such a strong field out there.

The Otter Pops provided by the Dorado team were a huge hit and the perfect way for our players to cool off after their rounds!

A huge thank you to Oro Valley Country Club for hosting our first event of the summer and for providing such an incredible experience for our junior golfers and families. We are so grateful for your hospitality and support of junior golf in Southern Arizona.

Special thank you to our amazing volunteers, Chris Hubbard, PGA, and Tom MacKinney, for donating their time and helping make today’s event run smoothly. Your support means so much to our juniors, their families, and our Chapter.

Congratulations to all of our players who competed today! We loved seeing the sportsmanship, effort, and positive attitudes out on the golf course. The future of golf in Southern Arizona is bright.
