⛵ We're Hiring! C420 Race Team Coach ⛵

Do you have a passion for sailing and mentoring the next generation of racers?

The Venice Youth Boating Association is looking for an enthusiastic C420 Race Team Coach to lead our introductory youth racing program.

What we're looking for:
⚓ Must be at least 21 years old
⚓ US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification (minimum)
⚓ Competitive sailing experience (C420 preferred)
⚓ Ability to pass a Florida Level 2 Background Screening
⚓ Passion for coaching, leadership, and youth development

📅 Schedule:
• Tuesdays: 3:30–7:30 PM
• Saturdays: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
• Select weekend regattas

This position has the potential to become a year-round coaching opportunity, with additional coaching opportunities in Learn to Sail, Homeschool Sailing, Adventure Sailing, private lessons, summer camps, and adult sailing programs.

🐟Summer Coach Spotlight!

Hi! I'm Coach Sean! I am 17 years old and I am going into my senior year at Venice High School. I first took sailing camps at the VYBA 7 years ago and have loved sailing ever since. I volunteered for 2 years and now have been coaching at VYBA for 3 years and plan to continue for many more. I coach many different camps throughout the summer, but during the school year I coach our Adventure Sail class. Outside of sailing, I enjoy playing bass trombone in my school band as well as in the county youth orchestra!

Hey! I'm Coach Teak! This is my first season coaching with VYBA after I earned my US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification. I have coached and volunteered with Optis, Hobie Waves, C420s, and Nacra 15s, and bring a competitive mindset and a passion for helping the next generation of sailors sharpen their skills and confidence on the water! This fall, I am entering my junior year of high school while dual-enrolled at the University of South Florida. My racing experience includes, Opti RWB, C420, High School Sailing, and Nacra 15s. When I'm not sailing or coaching, you'll find me traveling, listening to music, or challenging friends on the basketball and volleyball courts. I'm looking forward to pushing young sailors to improve, have fun, and make the most of every day on the water with VYBA!

🐠Summer Coach Spotlight!

Hey there! I'm Coach Ayden. I sailed on the Venice High School team for two years, proudly serving as team captain last year. Although I started the sport a bit later than most, I began in 420s and instantly fell in love with sailing as a lifestyle. I hold my First Aid and US Sailing Level 1 certifications, and I am currently working toward Level 2. I have experience teaching everything from Pollywogs and Optis to Adventure Sail and 420s. It's funny how you never truly know what your passion is until you try it! After a hot day of coaching, you can find me playing beach volleyball or scuba diving. My favorite part of coaching is sharing my knowledge and helping kids flourish into independent, confident sailors!

Hi! I'm Coach Eli! I am a US Sailing Level 1 certified instructor and this is my fourth summer at VYBA. Working at the Venice Youth Boating Association has been a rewarding experience because I enjoy helping kids learn and grow through sailing. Coaching young sailors allows me to teach them new skills, build their confidence on the water, and watch them improve over time. I enjoy creating a positive and encouraging environment where they can have fun while learning teamwork, responsibility, and perseverance. Seeing their excitement as they gain confidence and become better sailors is one of the most fulfilling parts of the job!

Hi! I'm Coach Natasha. I am a US Sailing Level 1 certified instructor and this is my third summer coaching. I have sailed since 2022 and I have coached school year Adventure Sail for the last 2 years as well as Opti Green Fleet this past school year. When I'm not sailing, I am a part of my school audition choir! One of my favorite things about coaching is being able to be a part of the kids' summer every year and watching them learn and grow.

Hi! I'm Coach Halle! I am currently 17 years old and I started sailing the summer before my sophomore year. I quickly fell in love with the sport and joined the Venice High School Sailing Team that school year. I sailed on the VHS team for 3 years and served as the Vice Team Captain in my Senior year! I have been coaching for two years now and just recently received my US Sailing Level 2 certification. I got into sailing through my best friend and I'm so glad I did because it has opened so many doors that I never knew were there. My favorite thing about coaching is getting to make an impact on kids and watching them improve and have fun while doing it! I love doing things on the water, but whenever I'm not I love to make art of any kind!

We're excited to announce that the Venice Youth Boating Association is now an approved Step Up For Students provider!

Eligible families can now use their Step Up scholarships for our Summer Sailing Program and School-Year Homeschool Sailing Program, making it even easier for students to learn, grow, and build confidence through sailing.

Hi! I'm Coach Katie and this is my third year coaching at VYBA. I'm a US Sailing certified Level 2 instructor, and I have coached all ages from Pollywogs, to Optis, to 420s! I raced on the Venice High School Sailing Team for two years, and I raced on the VYBA C420 and Laser teams for two years. I'm entering my Sophomore year at the University of Vermont studying molecular genetics and microbiology. When I'm not sailing, I love to draw, write, bake, and ski!
