The 41st Lahay is in the history books. It is always a special to share the weekend with generations of the Lahay family and all of the friends, member and strangers that they welcome into their family for the weekend. This year we had 83 players. Many of those played three tournament rounds and a practice round. Some played one round and came to dinner, a few even just showed up to play in the par 3 tournament. All were welcomed and appreciated.

Of course we want to thank the Lahay's for coming from all over the country and sometimes world to have the event at Rolling Hills. I want to thank my staff, Connie was amazing with the food and at the bar, Laura, Jess, Ashley and Ty for taking care of everyone in the proshop with a smile. And, of course, the grounds crew for making sure the course was in great shape for the event. Thank you for all your hard work: Dustin, Terry, Valerie, Steph, Pete, Kenny, Elliot, Bo, Hunter, and Rusty.

But, this is the crazy month of September and we will come in tomorrow and get ready for the VHS Lady Tiger Event on Thursday, the Gates Employees and Stover Athletics on Saturday and the Skip Hughes MU Scholarship event on Sunday.

September Newsletter

A Note from Steve:

Amazing, we are enjoying a 75- degree day that is overcast. It feels so good getting a break from the late summer heat. Through out this year we have stayed green and the course has held up well. We are not perfect, but every year we do out best to improve and to this point, I hope you agree that we have succeeded. The next several weeks are very busy and we will try to cover all the events in this short newsletter.

Our Annual Meeting is Monday, September 28th at 6:00 pm. We will be electing three board members to replace the three that have terms expiring in September: Bill Holstein, Earl Reuter, and Jim Francis. Our Nominating Committee of Bob and Wilma Long, Chuck Moore convinced Linda Larocca, Brian James and Elvin Halsey to run and serve on our board for a three-year term.

This weekend we have the 41st Annual Lahay Memorial. We are expecting nearly 80 Players and will be full most of the weekend. The tournament concludes by late morning on Sunday. So, there will be availability in the afternoon on Sunday.

On the 17th we will be hosting the VHS Lady Tiger invitational. This will close the course for the morning of the 17th. The Lady Tigers are having a historic season to this point. In fact, they just won at Clinton and have set the team and individual records for scoring. Keep an eye on them as the season moves forward.

On the 19th we will have a Gates Employee event in the morning and Stover Athletics fundraiser in the afternoon. Please call for tee times, there will not be many available. The 20th is the Skip Hughes MU Scholarship event. This is a 2-person scramble starting at noon. They do a great job providing lunch and drinks for the day. The cost is $60 per player including cart.

Then the 26th and 27th is our Laufenberg Club Championship. It is a two day event, it is really more like a member appreciation event. It starts both days at noon. It does occupy some tee times but if you are too nervous to participate, there will still be opportunities to play that weekend.

We roll into October with the Apple Fest 3-person scramble on Sunday the 4th. Followed by Men’s League Finale’ Cross Country on the 5th, then the Greenskeepers Revenge on the 10th. ON the 11th we will host UPS for an employee tournament. It is a crazy time of year.

So, as usual, watch Facebook for updates, make tee times, follow cart rules and fix ball marks. I truly appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you for an amazing fall.

Best Wishes,
Steve

Great competition in our ladies mixer today. They decided to only play 9 holes due to the heat warnings. The top three teams finished with 32, 33, and 34. The difference maker was Ruth Bigler holing out from 110 on hole six for an eagle, giving her team the victory. Way to go Janet, Laura, Johnna, Nellie and Ruth.
