You donโt have to workout every day to get results in the arena - hereโs how ๐๐ผ
The reality of our lives as barrel racers - we donโt have an abundance of extra time, so we have to make the most of the time we do have.
Add in the chaos that is summer, and most barrel racers convince themselves itโs not worth working out because 6-7 days a week isnโt going to happen.
If you only have 3 days a week to workout, that doesnโt mean 3 days of full-body workoutsโฆ
Instead, do this:
๐๐ผ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ญ - ๐๐๐๐ฆ & ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐
โข include 1-2 compound lifts (squats, deadlifts, etc)
โข primarily single leg movements for accessory exercises (lunges, split squats, etc)
โข engage core in all exercises + add core circuit to finish
๐๐ผ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ - ๐จ๐ฃ๐ฃ๐๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐๐ฌ
โข hit upper body as a whole with focus on your back & shoulders
โข no need to overdo it - 6-7 different exercises is plenty
โข brace & engage core through all exercises
๐๐ผ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฏ - ๐๐จ๐๐ ๐๐ข๐๐ฌ
โข work a combination of upper, lower & core
โข I recommend doing this one as a circuit
โข follow up with 10-15 minutes of walking to cool down
Specific exercises could go a million different directions - especially when youโre trying to address specific issues in the saddle.
But this will give you guardrails for what you want your programming to look like.
