Deadlifts have always been one of my go-to lifts — but they’ve taken on a whole new meaning now that growing a tiny human.

Parents are basically deadlifting all day everyday: car seats, toddlers who refuse to walk, laundry baskets, grocery bags… you name it. Strength training is so important because it will allow me to keep up with life’s very real-world reps.

Now that my abdomen is growing, I’ve had to make some adjustments. Widening my stance a bit, and focusing on a slower, more controlled hip flexion & extension, lifting a load that feels good not grinding and increasing reps with more rest between sets.
My body is changing, so my training is changing, and I’m love it.

🍂 Homemade granola, no junk, just nutritious and delicious.

Granola is one of those grocery items that is tricky. Advertised as “healthy” “fiber rich” “protein packed”, often there is a ton of added sugar, hidden additives, refined oils and can be pricey.
It’s so easy to make healthy and nutritious granola at-home and here is my favorite way to make it!

Ingredients-(I used all organic & GF ingredients but that’s up to you, the baker!)
▢ Large Baking pan + Parchment Paper
▢ 2 cups GF Rolled Oats
▢ 1/4 cup Unsweetened Shredded Coconut
▢ 1/4 cup Chopped Pecans
▢ 2 tablespoon Pure Maple Syrup
▢ 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
▢ 3 tablespoon Unrefined Coconut Oil (Melted)
▢ 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
▢ Pinch of Himayalan Salt
▢ Organic Craisins
▢ 1/4 Cup Slivered Almonds
▢ 2 TBSP H**p seeds (optional)

BAKE: 300 degrees 15-17 minutes
1. Combine oats, chopped pecans, cinnamon, salt and shredded coconut in a bowl.
2. In a separate bowl, melt the coconut oil and mix this, vanilla extract and maple syrup into the dry ingredients.
3. Stir together until fully combined.
4. Place a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet and spread the granola evenly across the surface.
5. Bake in the oven on the middle rack for 7 minutes, stir, spread evenly, bake for another 7 minutes and stir&spread once more. Place granola back in the oven for another 2-3 minutes, the oats are done when they are lightly golden brown. **this last bake will vary per oven, watch and do not over bake!** **coconut will brown faster than oats this is ok**
6. Once fully baked, take out of the oven and on the baking sheet mix in the almonds, h**p seeds and Craisins.
7. Let the granola fully cool before placing it in an airtight container for storage, and sneaking a few pinches to enjoy while it sits 😉
*Store in airtight container for 2 months but it won’t last that long!

Exercise helps me be in full control over my body, my mind, the weights, and feel stronger in everything I do both physically and mentally everyday.

Barbell RDLs? One of my absolute favorites! It’s, for me, a perfect mix of load exposure - control - and saying “hello” to the whole posterior chain system working together. 🖤

The kettlebell swap with a single leg hinge adds an anti-rotation and anti-shift component that forces my body to stabilize through the standing leg muscles, joints and core system.

Keeping it real, the KB swap is more challenging on my left side. You’ll even see me loose my balance for a moment. Losing balance isn’t failure — it’s feedback. 🧠 ⚖️

When you challenge your balance, you’re pushing your nervous system, muscles, and joints to communicate and adapt. Every small wobble or step to recover teaches your body how to react faster and stabilize better next time.

Balance and stability are the foundation of real strength. Exercises that focus on this will translate into your daily life and with exercises in the gym. When the core, joints, and stabilizer muscles are trained, you move more efficiently, and big ticket: reduce injury risk.

Prioritizing morning walks this summer ☀️
Because afternoons are just too dang hot outside and my PM schedule is booked (🙌) I’ve found myself skipping afternoon walks too often 😣

Life happens. Circumstances change. Priorities shift. But if a goal still matters then it’s absolutely worth adjusting the timeline instead of abandoning it.
