Lessons vs. Training — what’s the difference?
Both are valuable, but they serve a little different purpose.
With lessons, the focus is on you as the rider — building your confidence, position, timing, feel, balance, and communication with your horse. As you learn, your cues may not always be perfect or consistent, and that’s completely okay. That’s part of becoming a better rider.
A training program adds another layer of support.
Along with your lessons, I’m able to ride and work with your horse between lessons. This helps maintain what they already know, reinforce correct responses, build strength and responsiveness, and work through things that may be more difficult while you’re still developing your own skills.
Think of it as creating a bridge between what your horse knows and what you’re learning together.
This is also why training programs cost more. They include additional professional riding time and ongoing work to develop, maintain, and condition the horse.
There’s nothing wrong with choosing either option. It simply depends on where you and your horse are in your journey and what kind of support you need.
My goal is always the same: to help you feel more confident, help your horse continue to progress, and create the best partnership possible. 🤍
