“A testament to the quick bond created within this group of guys — we were a true team,” Jung said. “I do think it’s really cool that this Woodside team was a group of members from the same club rather than sourced from the most successful league teams across the region, as many of the teams we met at nationals were.”

Since moving back to Seattle, Jung has continued his racquet-sports journey. He joined a 4.0 men’s singles league which allows him to keep playing tennis regularly, and he has recently taken up padel. He often reminisces about his experience at Woodside and the friends he made at the club.

“Unsurprisingly, I haven’t yet found a club with the same level of community and energy for tennis as Woodside, and I miss having my Woodside crew down the street from me,” Jung said. “But I do plan to continue playing, and I hit up the Woodside guys whenever I’m back in town.”

After years as an elite squash player, Chris Jung discovered a new racquet-sport community in Kansas City, helping a Woodside tennis team to a national championship.

MIXED DOUBLES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Friday, September 18 – Sunday, September 20
Entry deadline is approaching so find your partner now!
This event will be in regular tournament format. Divisions will be men and women combined partners and divided by level. Lunch will be served for tournament players on Saturday from 11:45AM – 2:00PM.

Friday matches will only happen if the draws are large enough to have to get matches in.

Prizes will be given for champions.

Entry deadline Monday September 14. Draws will be posted by Thursday September 17.
