This guy turned a $50 birthday gift into an MLB career 👇

But back in high school, things weren’t going so well.

After his last varsity game, he thought he'd hung up the cleats for the last time.

He said, "I was driving around town just thinking I'm done with baseball for the rest of my life."

Then his high school coach called.

There was a summer showcase hosted by small colleges looking to fill roster spots.

It cost $50 to register.

Luckily, he had just turned 19 years old and had some birthday money saved up.

"One more day of baseball." That's what he thought.

But his performance at the showcase caught the attention of one guy.

The coach at an NAIA school in Illinois.

They made him an offer, and he accepted.

More baseball.

He took the opportunity and ran with it.

Fast forward to 2020:

After entering the league as a 6th-round pick, he retired as a 3-time MLB All-Star & 2-time World Series Champion.

A classic late bloomer, he made it a lot further than anyone thought he would.

His name is Ben Zobrist.

And he said something I think more parents of young players should be thinking about:

Great interview! Skenes thought he was going to fly fighter jets(too big to fit in the cockpit)and didn’t start pitching until his junior year in college.
