Thank you for a great season 💛🖤
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday night, as the Toronto Marlies posted a 2-1 overtime victory in Game Six of the Eastern Conference Finals, to take the series four games to two.
The goals were scored by Aidan McDonough (WBS), Easton Cowan (TOR) and former Penguin Alex Nylander (TOR), but the real story of the game was the play of the two netminders.
Sergei Murashov stopped 37 shots, bringing the home crowd to its feed on multiple occasions, while Artur Akhtyamov turned aside 39 attempts to secure his 11th win of the postseason.
Toronto will now head to the Calder Cup Finals for the third time in team history.
