Next up...In honor of school starting this week, I wanna play a game with our senior members. We'll call it "WHO'S THAT KID." I'll post a picture with 3 clues answer in the comments section. The only rule is relatives of the child can not guess. So here they are!

Sitting in the empty room after I cleaned the mats and I find myself reminiscing, remember the roads traveled to get where we are now. Our first one was in 2012. The "garage " behind Legacy school that had no lights no heat and no ac. We used a kerosene heater to heat the mats up until they body heat from the wrestlers warmed the room. From there to the old stephens city elementary school cafeteria, thought we made the big time lol. Covid started towards the end of use being there, the Town needed the facility for their expansion, so we kept going, this brings us to Papermill rd. Covid continued here, we still had a full room, kids from 2 and 3 states came to practices, it was invite only. We invited those that wouldn't say too much and get us shut down. I put reflective tint on the windows and door so you couldn't see in. We traveled everywhere during the pandemic, South Carolina and Indianapolis were two of the farthest. Our last move happened last year. We moved I to the Sportsplex. Now again it felt like we made it. Kids coming to practices that will wrestle each other during the season but none of them cared, in here they're all teammates. They're young men and women just wanting to get better. This brings us to the current picture, the rooms a mess and looks ridiculous, but we are expanding to take over this entire room and adding 1000sqft will help. It's been a long journey, change has become a constant. There's been a lot of individual state champions in the area that have graced these rooms, a lot of youth state titles 1st wins, 1st championships, dual tournament placing and wins. Each graduating class left its mark. I sometimes wonder if I still have enough want to to continue, then you have kids that "need" this club maybe more than the club needs them, and yea I gotta lot more left for those . What's another 14yrs right? Here's to the next "We made it moment" I'll post a picture when we're done.

We typically put 4 to 5 teams in duals once a month. It gives kids an opportunity to compete. The best part of that is not wins and losses, not banners and trophies, its watching kids try something new...a new weight class a new division those types of things. This weekend we had several girls that had never wrestled freestyle before. For those of you that don't know youth, middle, high-school and college all wrestle folkstyle, freestyle an international/Olympic style. The US is the only country that does folkstyle. These girls not only killed it, they didn't have a losing record in freestyle. We had 1 girl go 6-0, one went 4-2, one went 5-1. Thats incredible, thats trust in their Coach to get them through, the matches. I'll take teams that have have a team missing, that doesn't matter near as much as what happened today. I believe if you give kids (mine or others) an opportunity the wins and losses will eventually take care of themselves. But based on the smiles I saw this weekend on the faces of the kids in the 5 teams we had this weekend....Id say we already won. K4 went 1-4, K6 went 1-4, K8 went 3-2, HS went 2-4, Girls freestyle went 4-2, girls folkstyle went 0-5. Both girls teams was pretty barren of wrestlers. We are back at it with Tyrant Tussle.
