Day trips to Mapungubwe National Park offer breathtaking landscapes, ancient baobabs, abundant wildlife, and the rich history of one of Southern Africa's oldest kingdoms.

Whether it's between hunting days or for non-hunters, it's a great way to experience another side of the African bush—and always a day well spent.

A solid week in the bush with a great group of American hunters. One of our return clients brought a few friends along, and despite some challenging conditions, our hard hunting delivered.
The first two days brought thick clouds cold weather and a little rain—very unusual for June in the bushveld.

Some highlights included a very heavy bushpig boar, a buffalo cow, a giraffe taken with a crossbow (the first crossbow harvest for Tally-Ho), and a proper old impala ram.
A number of various other game was taken including oryx, blue wildebeest, ostrich, kudu, steenbuck, duiker, and blesbuck.

It was a pleasure hunting with you guys. Good people, good laughs, and the kind of camaraderie that makes for a memorable safari experience. We appreciate the trust and hope to see everyone back in Africa again.

Responsible hunting doesn't end when the hunt is over.
This month, 180 kg of venison was donated to a local pre-primary and primary school that provides meals for the students, as well as the local orphanage. The Tallyho team Together with our clients delivered the meat personally and packed it into the freezers for them. Thereafter enjoying a tour of the facilities and good conversation with the principal. Organ meat was also donated to a local SPCA branch so that every usable part of the harvest could serve a purpose.

Giving back to our communities is something we do throughout the year whenever we can, and this is just one of the ways we try to ensure that the value of every harvest extends beyond Tally-Ho.

Thank you to our hunters for making it possible.
Ethical hunting has an impact that reaches far beyond the trophy.

Another successful week in the books with our hunters from Poland 🇵🇱.

The hunting has not been easy. With the bush still thick and plenty of natural feed available, game movement has been limited because they haven't needed to travel far to graze or browse. Despite the challenging conditions, our PHs put in the miles and managed to get the clients onto some excellent animals.

Highlights from the week included a great buffalo bull, a big old giraffe bull, some beautiful warthogs, top class waterbuck bull and an impressive old sable cow.

Congratulations to the hunters on some well-earned trophies, and thanks for spending the week with us at TallyHo

As all good hunts do, this one eventually had to come to an end.

The final days added a few more great trophies to an already memorable safari. Dad was fortunate to take a beautiful ostrich male and a steenbok ram, while the young hunter finally got his zebra and a grey duiker to round off an incredible trip.

We spent our last evening together enjoying some bird shooting, sharing stories from the week and taking in the African sunset.

Until next time, safe travels and good hunting.

"The Day"
The morning started with exactly what every buffalo hunter hopes for—fresh tracks. The spoor was fresh, and the dung was still warm. He was close.

The team took up the tracks and soon bumped two bulls from their hidey holes beneath a dense umbrella thorn thicket. Unfortunately, the buffalo were one step ahead and slipped away before an opportunity presented itself.

The spoor was picked up again, but a shifting wind forced a change of plans. The hunters had to reroute and work their way around the bulls to stay undetected. Then PH Rudi spotted oxpeckers and knew they couldn't be far away. What followed was a 150-metre crawl through the bush to get a closer look.

After all that effort, they managed to get within 20 metres of the bulls. But true to their reputation, they rose and disappeared without so much as a crash through the bushes—vanishing silently into the thick cover.

The afternoon brought a change in strategy.

After days of tracking, crawling, circling, and countless miles on foot, persistence finally paid off. The plan came together, the opportunity presented itself, and our hunter was able to take his buffalo.

A hard-earned trophy and a hunt that perfectly captures what buffalo hunting is all about—patience, determination, and never giving up when the odds are against you.

Congratulations on a fantastic buffalo bull and a hunt none of us will soon forget.

What a day for the young hunter! After some excellent walk-and-stalk hunting he managed to take a stunning golden wildebeest, a great warthog boar, and a beautiful blesbuck ram. A day he'll remember for a long time and one that left plenty of smiles around camp.

Meanwhile, the buffalo hunt continued.

For two days, the team has hunted hard, covering miles on foot and spending hours tracking through thick brush and sekelbos. There have been plenty of close encounters, with careful stalks, crawling into position, and working every opportunity that presented itself.

As Stuart likes to say, our buffalo know all the best "hidey holes." Twice they've managed to slip away just when it seemed the opportunity was within reach.

That's buffalo hunting. Challenging, unpredictable, and earned every step of the way. The determination is there, the sign is fresh, and tomorrow is another day in the bush.

The persistence did pay off with a fantastic warthog boar for Dad—a really nice pig and a well-earned trophy after all the miles covered.
