[READ] Four UWC Members Selected for Team South Africa at FISU World University Championship in Brazil
The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is celebrating a significant achievement after four members of the UWC family were selected to represent South Africa at the 2026 FISU World University Championship Combat Sports, taking place in Brasília, Brazil, from 8 to 13 June 2026.
Three UWC karate athletes — Isabelle Visser, Kyle Corbellari, and Ismaa-Fel Iohaadien — have earned places in the 15-member University Sport South Africa (USSA) Karate team following a rigorous national selection process. Joining them is Wendy Nomatse, who has been appointed as Team Manager for the South African delegation.
The quartet will form part of South Africa’s karate contingent at one of the most prestigious events on the international university sport calendar, competing against some of the world’s top student-athletes.

🏅 A new era, a new medal.
This past weekend, runners crossed the finish line and earned the very first UWC Fast & Flat medal featuring the Caracal — a symbol of our identity, resilience, and bold new chapter.
More than just a medal, it represents the journey, determination, and spirit of every athlete who took on the challenge. Congratulations to all our finishers for making this milestone one to remember.🐱
