Grace has officially left the building, and we’re not entirely sure the office has recovered. 🐾🎶

This gorgeous Border Collie came to board with us after her operation, with a portion of her surgery and recovery generously funded by our Paws Pay-It-Forward Fund (repaid with pets, cuddles, cake, and a gorgeous orchid - Thank you Grace's Dad!)❤️ She’s now continuing her recovery with physiotherapy, working hard to get back to her usual life of swimming, running, playing and, most importantly, chasing ducks.

But while Grace was boarding in our office, we discovered something very important about her rehabilitation process…

Grace has opinions about music. 😂

We noticed she became particularly calm when certain songs were playing, with 'Gypsy' by Fleetwood Mac emerging as the clear favourite. It was played 18 times in ONE DAY.

Naturally, the only reasonable response was to create a Spotify playlist: 'Songs for Grace', a carefully curated collection of all her favourites.

There is, however, one very firm rule:

🚫 NO ENYA.

We tried Caribbean Blue. Grace responded by loudly and very clearly voicing her displeasure. Apparently, Enya is simply not her vibe.

We miss our little boarding doggy terribly (and, frankly, her impeccable music taste).

We can’t wait to see this girl back on her feet, running, swimming and playing in the dam with her family again. Until then, Grace, keep healing, keep wagging, and please keep the Enya reviews to a minimum.

Jersey may be small, but he sure is mighty🐾

This stylish Pom is as spicy as he is adorable, with the cutest smile and a luxurious winter coat that had us all feeling a little jealous during the latest cold-snap.

Jersey is visiting us for some physiotherapy to help manage his luxating patella, and he’s certainly keeping us entertained along the way! We wish this distinguished little spitfire all the very best 🩷

Our Office Supervisor Gracie is hard at work baking biscuits to keep us energised and motivated, be sure to say 'hello' to this little madame if you see her walking around the practice inspecting her 'kingdom', or having a nap in her favourite cardboard box on one of the desks.

P.S. If you ever receive a message from us that makes no sense, keep in mind that our desks (and laptops) are frequently visited by this furry-footed keyboard bandit!🐾🤣

This is Our ‘Why’ 🥹

Ralph has been on an incredible journey since starting physio with us. After being diagnosed with CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy), he was left with near-complete paralysis from the neck down (with the exception of his always-wagging tail), and so began his long and complicated road to recovery.

At one point we all thought we would have to say goodbye to this sweet boy, but after a change in medication dosage at his vet appointment (and through his sheer determination and hard work) he has made a remarkable recovery, surprising the entire PAWS office staff by moving his legs with purpose as he was helped towards the underwater treadmill in his stylish harness. Now, Ralph comes as often as he can, with the support of his super-dedicated family, to walk on the treadmill and build strength and confidence in his legs.

This past Friday, the entire PAWS team stood around the computer in tears after being sent a video of Ralph taking his very first steps on his own. We just can’t believe how quickly this boy has progressed, and we were all so excited to head home and share the amazing news with our own families.

We can’t wait to see Ralph running around and playing with his big brother, being his independent self, trotting off to find a treat or snack, and bumping his nose into people’s hands for pets.

Stories like Ralph’s are why we do what we do. We really do love to see the progress our patients make, and while we do have tough days (as do all who work with or love animals), moments like this make it all worth it.

🐾 Meet Ceres: A Gentle Soul Growing Older Gracefully

Sweet Ceres is an elderly Weimaraner who visits us for veterinary physiotherapy to help him feel more comfortable, maintain his mobility, and make the most of every step as he navigates age-related degenerative changes.

A little shy at first, Ceres is an incredibly sweet boy, and there’s no doubt that his dad is his favourite person. During his sessions, Dad is never far away, with those hands always ready for a gentle head pat, a little encouragement, and plenty of reassurance. It’s beautiful to see how focused Ceres is on him throughout his treatment.

These days, Ceres is a little less of a wild child, but apparently he had quite the adventurous appetite in his younger years… with a particular fondness for eating things he definitely shouldn’t have, especially rocks!

At home, Ceres has a sister to keep him company and a very important dinner-time tradition. Once he’s finished his meal, he waits patiently for his family to come and play, because no dinner is truly complete without some toy throwing.

Getting older may mean slowing down a little, but it doesn’t mean giving up the things that make life special. Our goal is to help Ceres stay as comfortable, mobile and happy as possible, so he can continue enjoying his favourite people, his sister, his toys and those precious moments of family time.
