This compact double-axle, two-sleeper caravan may be smaller in size, but it is packed with everything needed for comfortable off-grid travel.

At BorderX, we customise each caravan’s layout around the individual client. This Crawler was designed and built specifically to suit its owners’ travelling style, storage requirements and preferred equipment.

Built on our durable 3CR12 stainless-steel independent chassis and suspension system, this Crawler is fitted with air suspension for improved ground clearance, stability and travelling comfort. The body is manufactured using our lightweight, strong honeycomb composite construction.

Inside you will find:
✅ King-size bed
✅ Full bathroom with shower and cassette toilet
✅ 12V air conditioner
✅ SnoMaster 65L fridge/freezer that also doubles as seating
✅ Generous packing space, including hanging space
✅ Additional subfloor storage for longer trips
✅ Full off-grid electrical system

The standard 170L freshwater tank was supplemented with an additional dedicated 60L freshwater tank, giving this client a total water capacity of 230L.

Outside, the gas geyser was positioned at the rear, conveniently close to the internal bathroom, with an additional fold-down table fitted alongside it.

The pull-out kitchen includes the client’s main large fridge/freezer and air fryer, while a microwave has been incorporated into the pop-up kitchen.

Compact on the road, spacious where it counts and custom-built around the way its owners want to travel — that is what BorderX is all about.

We spent the weekend camping at 𝐋𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐠 with some of our clients.

One of the greatest privileges of owning BorderX is the wonderful people we get to meet along the way. There is something special about sitting around a campfire, where the first thing everyone has in common is simply: “𝐖𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠.”

From there, the stories begin, we get to know one another, and friendships grow.

We have shared quite a journey with these particular clients. The BorderX Outpost was originally designed for them, and now, two and a half years later, they are travelling with their 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐗 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐫.

An added bonus this weekend was that they have a house at Pride of Africa. We took their game viewer and explored the northern section of Dinokeng—an area we had never seen before. It was a wonderful experience and a lovely way to see a completely different part of the reserve.

Good company, a campfire, game drives and the freedom of the bush—this is exactly what camping is all about. 🏕️🦒🔥

Where clients become friends.

𝐀 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐊𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐮 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐠

We arrived early Friday afternoon and settled into campsite 6: a lovely, spacious, unfenced spot with a private bathroom and no electricity. We weren’t camping alone, either. There were two caravans in our little group, and it was one of those weekends that reminds us how lovely it is when clients become friends.

A jackal visited while we were braaiing and, at one point, lay surprisingly close to us. I love hearing them call to each other across the veld, although the one near our camp sounded a little off-key! 😂

On Saturday we went for a self-drive and saw plenty of animals. The grass was tall and very dry, but the animals were plentiful and looked in good condition. We stopped for brunch at Arlington before heading back.

The kids joined us after lunch. Our eldest, now in his matric year, had some work he wanted to finish first. We’re enjoying this new stage where they can drive themselves and join us when they’re ready!

Perhaps we were a little louder on Saturday night, or perhaps the jackals realised we don’t share our braai with the wildlife. Either way, they kept their distance, and we only heard them calling from afar.

Sunday started with breakfast, followed by another game drive. We saw far fewer animals than the day before, but a slow drive through the veld is always relaxing. 🐾

This Outpost features a 𝘄𝗲𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗶, plenty of clever packing space, and an additional 𝟲𝟱𝗟 𝗦𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 the caravan.

But it’s outside where this client really made the setup their own. 👌

🧊 At the rear, alongside the main fridge/freezer, we’ve created space for an additional appliance such as an air fryer or ice machine.

🚿 And at the back of the caravan is their dedicated wash-up area, keeping the cooking, cleaning and living spaces practical and organised.
