Today our course has been alive with smiles, warm greetings and the first swings of the day.

As teams made their way around the course, every drive, every putt, and every conversation were memories which will last long after today’s final hole.

Off the course everyone in attendance enjoyed delicious food, refreshing drinks, and the opportunity to connect.

Let’s take a walk back into history….

Our story began in 1893, when East London Golf Club was established on a modest 12-hole course near the Quigney beachfront.

As the club grew, it relocated to Baysville in 1904, where Grens High School stands today.
In the 1920s, the club moved to its permanent home in Bunkers Hill. At the time, some members felt it was "too far out of town."

Today, that very location is one of East London's most iconic destinations, where championship golf, breathtaking coastal views, and a rich heritage come together.

We would love to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Arron Louw on yet another outstanding performance, claiming victory at the Border Stroke Play Championship this past weekend.

After a challenging start, Aaron showed tremendous character, closing with two superb rounds of 67 to secure the title of Border Stroke Play Champion.

A special mention also goes out to Ben Weber, who produced another exceptional performance to finish runner-up after what was reportedly a thrilling battle right to the very end.

Congratulations to both these talented young men on their continued success. Your dedication and performances make the club incredibly proud, and we wish you both every success in tournaments ahead.

East London Golf Club - East London's Green Oasis

In today's fast-paced world, finding a place where nature, recreation and tranquillity exist in harmony has become increasingly rare. Nestled between the Indian Ocean and the Nahoon River, East London Golf Club is more than one of South Africa's premier golfing destinations, it is one of the city's most treasured green sanctuaries.

While renowned for its championship golf course and breathtaking coastal views, East London Golf Club is equally celebrated for its rich natural environment. Spanning expansive green fairways framed by indigenous vegetation, the club has become a haven for wildlife and a peaceful retreat for both members and visitors.

Every morning, the course awakens to the sound of birdsong as a remarkable variety of bird species fill the air. Indigenous trees, coastal vegetation and carefully preserved natural areas provide shelter for birds, small mammals and other wildlife, creating a thriving ecosystem in the heart of East London. It is this unique blend of championship golf and unspoilt natural beauty that sets the club apart.

More than simply maintaining a golf course, East London Golf Club serves as an important green lung for the city. The vast open spaces contribute to cleaner air, support biodiversity and preserve valuable habitats that have become increasingly important as urban development continues to grow. Every tree, water feature and natural corridor plays a role in sustaining the delicate balance of this remarkable environment.

Visitors often remark that time seems to slow down the moment they enter the grounds. Whether watching the sunrise over the Indian Ocean, spotting local birdlife along the fairways or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings from the clubhouse, the experience extends far beyond golf. It is an opportunity to reconnect with nature and appreciate the beauty that surrounds one of the Eastern Cape's most iconic sporting venues.

This commitment to preserving the club's natural surroundings reflects a broader appreciation for environmental stewardship. By maintaining indigenous vegetation and respecting the existing landscape, East London Golf Club demonstrates that exceptional sporting facilities and environmental responsibility can flourish together.

For golfers, nature lovers, families and visitors alike, the club offers far more than a place to play. It is a destination where the beauty of the Eastern Cape coastline meets world-class hospitality, where wildlife continues to thrive, and where generations have come to enjoy the serenity of one of East London's most beautiful green spaces.

East London Golf Club is not simply a golf course. It is a living green oasis, a sanctuary where sport, nature and community come together to create an experience unlike any other.

Whether you're enjoying a round of golf, sharing a meal with friends, attending an event or simply taking in the spectacular surroundings, you'll discover why East London Golf Club remains one of the city's greatest natural treasures.
