From Limpopo to the World Stage!

A massive congratulations to four outstanding young men who were born and raised in Limpopo, represented the Limpopo Primary Schools Craven Week team in 2019, and are now proudly representing South Africa at the World Rugby U20 Championship:

Luan van der Berg – Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos

Kebotile Maake – Laerskool Tzaneen

Risima Khosa – Laerskool Tzaneen

Khuthadzo Rasivhaga – Laerskool Louis Trichardt

What an incredible achievement! These four players are living proof that world-class talent is developed on the fields of rural and small-town South Africa. Their inclusion in the Junior Springbok squad highlights the immense value of investing in grassroots rugby and keeping the development pipeline in the platteland healthy and strong. (World Rugby⁠)

At the same time, their journey reminds us of the challenge faced by many rural provinces. While Limpopo continues to produce exceptional rugby players, socio-economic realities and greater rugby opportunities elsewhere often mean our best talent must leave home to pursue their dreams.

Today, we celebrate not only four exceptional athletes, but every coach, teacher, volunteer, parent and community that played a role in their journey.

Limpopo can be proud. The future of South African rugby continues to grow from its heartland. 💚💛
