Your ears are one of your best safety tools. Listening to music while running or walking can prevent you from hearing approaching vehicles, cyclists, or other hazards.
Stay aware of your surroundings and save the playlist for after your workout.

Make yourself impossible to miss by wearing reflective clothing and carrying a flashlight or headlamp when running/walking early in the morning or evening.
Being visible gives drivers more time to see you and helps keep every run or walk a safe one.
Shine bright and stay safe!

When you're running or walking on roads without sidewalks, always face oncoming traffic. This gives you a clear view of approaching vehicles and allows you to react quickly if needed.
Your safety starts with being aware of what's ahead. Stay alert, stay visible, and enjoy every stride.

We would like to introduce you to one of our club members who has a truly inspiring story of grit, determination, and perseverance.
Hannah joined Run/Walk For Life in January 2024 and could only manage 400m around the field!
Hannah has an autoimmune disease that attacks the immune system, has unexplained weight gain, chronic fatigue, painful muscle aches, joint pain, and an inability to tolerate cold. So, winter is a really tough time of the year for Hannah but she continues to show up for sessions and complete what she can.
Despite all of her health challenges Hannah has persevered with her fitness and weight loss journey to the point where she participated in her first 10km race in May this year and has lost an amazing 13kg in the last 8 months 🎉👏🏼 We are incredibly proud of you and everything you have achieved! We can’t wait to see what the next part of your journey with us will be 🫶🏻

It’s that time of the year 🤧😷🤒
We have a number of our family who have really been struggling this winter with colds and flu, and this strain of flu has been particularly bad and seems to linger for weeks.
The question is; should we exercise or not while we are sick?
Whether we should exercise or not while we are sick depends on our symptoms. As a rule of thumb, use the “neck rule”.
Above the neck: If you have a mild cold or sneezing, light activity like walking or slow yoga may help clear nasal passages. Dial your intensity down to 50% and keep it short.
Below the neck: Do not exercise if you have a fever, chest congestion, body aches, vomiting or diarrhoea. Strenuous activity during these illnesses can severely dehydrate you, strain your heart, and prolong your recovery.
Always listen to your body and prioritise rest. Let’s also be mindful of those around us and wear a mask if needed 😷
For all of our family who are sick or recovery from illness, we are thinking of you, we miss you and hope to see you soon 🤗❤️💙

It’s cold outside….
This winter decided to give back to our local community by donating wool, or money to purchase wool, to make scarf and beanie sets for some of the children at School “Place of life”, on the outskirts of Thembisa.
serves children and communities impacted by unemployment, poverty, social and economic vulnerability. was established in 2010 and provides quality education to the most vulnerable children. In addition to an excellent curriculum, which includes Sports, Art, Music, Culture, Information Communication and Technology and Robotics, learners are transported to and from school, and are provided daily nutritious meals as well as the necessary remedial and social support.
A huge thank you to one of our members who generously gave of her time to knit all of the beanies and scarves. We managed to put together 19 scarf and beanie sets that will be delivered to on Monday.
Thank you to every one of our members who contributed to make this project possible 🤗 Your generous hearts and loving spirits for those less fortunate than ourselves warms my heart and makes me realise just how amazing our family are 🩷🩵🤗
