This ride is about more than kilometres, climbs and finish lines. 💙🚴

This year, The Herald Cycle Tour is proud to support four incredible organisations making a real difference in our communities: Reach For A Dream, Smile Foundation, uThando Youth Cycle Academy and Bayethe Multisport Academy.

From creating unforgettable moments for children to opening doors through sport, every organisation brings its own purpose to the ride.

Because when we ride together, we can go further than the finish line.

Ride for more. Live the Ride.

There are moments during The Herald Cycle Tour when you almost forget you’re racing.

Almost. 😉

Over the next few months, we’re taking you beyond the route map and showing you some of the incredible places, views and landmarks that make this ride so special.

And what better way to start than Heritage Day, celebrating the places, people and stories that make Nelson Mandela Bay home. 🇿🇦

First stop: Maitlands

Recognise it?

Happy Heritage Day from The Herald Cycle Tour. ❤️

Every cycling group has one 😂🚴

We caught up with a local cycling crew for a round of Pass the Mic and found out who’s who in the group.

But they’ve all got one thing in common, they’re all lining up for the Herald Cycle Tour.

See you on the start line. 👊

The bikes have changed.

The helmets have definitely changed.

The kit has changed.

But that feeling at the start line?

We're not sure that ever changes. ❤️🚴

We're digging through The Herald Cycle Tour archives over the next few months and bringing some incredible memories back to life.

Who remembers this era of the Tour?

Some come to race.

Some come to prove something to themselves.

Some ride with friends. Some with family.

Some are continuing a tradition that started decades ago.

But everyone arrives at the same start line.
And everyone has their own reason for being there.

Over the next few months, we're going to tell those stories.

What's your reason for riding? 🚴

EMERGENCY SPECIALISTS | When you see the red and blue, help is at hand.

Our never-ending gratitude goes out to Relay EMS for always being there for our riders.

Bunch-riding and frenetic sprints to the finish are intense and sometimes don't end well.

Knowing that medics are on standy is incredibly reassuring to participants.
