Around 50 border and migration officers from Saranda, Gjirokaster, Korce, Shkoder, and Tirana joined training focused on Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration procedures, eligibility criteria, available assistance, and referral mechanisms for migrants.

The training under the EU Enlargement & Eastern Neighbourhood funded project, aimed to strengthen coordination among frontline actors and ensure migrants have timely access to accurate information and available support.

Safe, dignified, and informed return remains a key element of effective migration management, while supporting sustainable reintegration in countries of origin.

🏆 Congratulations to the municipalities of Has, Kamez, Saranda, Pogradec, and Diber, recognized for impactful initiatives supporting migrants and engaging with diaspora communities for economic growth, reintegration, and social inclusion.

With the support of the UK Government, the Best Community Impact Initiatives competition provided a platform for all the 61 municipalities to highlight the power of partnership and shared learning in delivering innovative, locally driven solutions on migration and diaspora engagement.

We had the pleasure of welcoming senior colleagues from IOM in Geneva, including the Director of Human Resources and Staff Welfare representatives, for a high-level visit to Tirana.

It was valuable opportunity to visit our partner Nisma për Ndryshim Shoqëror, ARSIS, gaining insights into ongoing support provided to vulnerable communities, and held an open discussion with university students, exchanging views on career paths, mobility, and future opportunities.

The visit reaffirmed IOM’s commitment to investing in its people and fostering meaningful partnerships on the ground.

At the IV Diaspora Summit, the Head of Office of IOM Albania highlighted the need to shift from managing migration to leveraging it as a driver of development, by expanding safe and regular pathways, mobilizing diaspora expertise, and strengthening data-driven policymaking.

IOM reaffirmed its support to national and local institutions to translate strategies into concrete, people-centered results.
