Come on down and support this.... It's sure to be a great day!
๐ Cancer Awareness Round โ Saturday 1 August ๐
Join us at the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association for our annual Cancer Awareness Round, proudly hosted by Spencer Park Hockey Club.
This special day honours the memories of two much-loved Spencer Park Hockey Club members, Jo Burling and Kellie York, whose courage and legacy continue to inspire our hockey community.
Thereโll be hockey all day, including two junior Spencer Park derbies, with our Year 2/3/4 teams taking the turf at 8.45am and our Year 5/6 teams at 11.45am.
The afternoon features two of the most meaningful fixtures on our club calendar:
๐ 2.15pm โ Kellie York Memorial Match
Spencer Park Light vs Spencer Park Dark (Womenโs B Grade)
๐ 3.45pm โ Jo Burling Memorial Match
Spencer Park vs North Albany (Womenโs A Grade)
๐ 5.15pm โ Menโs A Grade
Spencer Park vs North Albany
The dayโs hockey concludes with two more exciting A Grade fixtures.
The Spencer Park Hockey Club are running the canteen - open from 8.30am to 7.30pm, with food purchases supporting the ongoing activities of our club.
Our charity fundraising will be running separately throughout the day, with donation tins and raffles raising funds for Albany Community Hospice.
Be sure to grab a raffle ticket for your chance to win a Gryphon hockey stick, generously donated by Gryphon Hockey.
Whether youโre a player, supporter or member of the wider community, weโd love to see you there as we honour Jo and Kellie, raise cancer awareness, support those impacted by cancer, and enjoy a fantastic day of hockey.
Together, we can make a difference. ๐๐

Incredible, well done!!
Is this the Lower Great Southernโs ultimate hockey power couple?
A few weeks ago, Beck Gallimore took home the Fairest & Best award at the 2026 CBH Womenโs Country Championships.
This past weekend, Darren Parkes thought heโd better keep up, claiming the Fairest & Best award at the 2026 CBH Menโs Masters Country Championships.
We can only imagine what the trophy cabinet at home looks like! ๐๐
Congratulations to Beck and Darren on two incredible individual honours. More importantly, thank you both for the countless hours you put into Great Southern hockey. Youโre not just outstanding players, you lead by example and make our hockey community stronger both on and off the field.

Friendly Reminder ๐
As the season continues, please remember to check your fixtures each week before heading to games.
Game times, venues and details can sometimes change, so itโs important to stay up to date rather than relying on earlier schedules.
Also a reminder for players and officials to please double check your umpiring responsibilities, including times and dates, to help ensure everything runs smoothly on game day.
A quick check each week makes a big difference for everyone involved.
๐๐๐ Go North! ๐๐
