Appin shows huge determination every week in juniors. She turns up ready to learn, works hard, and gives everything she’s got. She’s stepped up confidently in offensive and defensive blocking, making a real impact in scrim.

We’re very proud of her effort, attitude, and the way she supports her teammates.

Steffi brings strong hit‑outs and shuts down lanes in a way that is annoying in the best derby way - smart, effective, and exactly what the team needs. They’re a dedicated teammate who keeps improving, challenges themselves, and shows up with a positive attitude every session.

What an awesome day at Wild West Bowling for our juniors! 🎳✨

They had an absolute blast trading eight wheels for the lanes. Making new friendships, sharing plenty of laughs, and proving they’ve got moves off the track, too!

A massive thank you to Andy, Lotte, and Naz for all their support in making today happen, and a big shoutout to Wild West Bowling for hosting us! 🤠🎳

Nicole, Stoney’s Mum, has been facing cancer and its ongoing health impacts for over 20 years. In this game, we are giving back. All profits from this game are going to her care.

Through her years of volunteering with the ambulance service in Albany and being someone who goes above and beyond for others, Nicole has spent her life caring for others. She has been on the sideline cheering for Stoney, learning to Referee and now an NSO, helping at events, volunteering at games...she does it all.

Her journey has included:

1998 – Diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Carcinoma
1999 – Double mastectomy
Cancer returned in her left axilla, followed by chemotherapy and radiation
16–17 years of remission before cancer returned
Another diagnosis of invasive carcinoma on the scar line
Another double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery
6 months of chemotherapy
February 2022 – Diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer to the bones
Radiotherapy to her spine and right hip
Ongoing hormonal and targeted therapy
Four surgeries on her eyesight

And now, severe lymphedema in her left arm requiring constant treatment, wrapping, physiotherapy and deep muscle massage.

At Albany Roller Derby, we believe every girl deserves the opportunity to be active, confident and connected through sport.

Thanks to the support of the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, the Game On, Girls initiative is helping more girls access quality roller derby helmets and protective gear, removing one of the biggest barriers to participation.

Having their own safety equipment means our skaters can practise beyond weekly training sessions, build confidence, develop new skills and enjoy skating with friends whenever they choose.

✨ More active. 📱 Less scrolling = More rolling.

By making roller derby more accessible, we're encouraging girls to stay active, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, and discover the lifelong benefits of community sport.
