White Spirit (R500) is back on the Westcoaster.

Fresh from a 4th place finish in the 2025 Melbourne Osaka Cup, this Beneteau First 50 returns for her fourth Melbourne to Hobart campaign under the helm of ORCV Commodore Cyrus Allen. With a crew mix of seasoned and newer offshore sailors coming through the ranks, White Spirit heads south in 2026 with plenty to race for.

13 Melbourne to Hobarts. 6 overall wins. Alien (R880) is back in the Westcoaster fleet.

Skippered by Justin Brenan, Team Alien has been one of the most consistent performers in ORCV offshore racing for 18 years, and the 2023 and 2025 Heemskirk Trophy wins show there's no sign of slowing down. A 30-year-old Duthy Lidgard design kept sharp through the years, but if you ask the team, the secret is simple: a crew that knows this boat and race better than most.

How many times have you crewed a race but never sat behind the wheel, plotted a course, or worked on the radio? The 2026 Women's Helm, Navigator & Radio Operator Race is designed around exactly that โ€” putting women in the helm, navigator, and radio operator seats. Not one day, not eventually. This Saturday 29 August.

It's a supportive environment to take on a role you might not have tried before, with a whole fleet supporting women sailors like you.

Entries close Thursday 20 August. Full details here ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://www.orcv.org.au/whnr-and-return-sprint

Australia's oldest ocean race turns yet another year older this October.

The Rudder Cup was first raced in 1907, after American magazine โ€œRudderโ€ editor Thomas Fleming Day wrote to Geelong Yacht Club Commodore T. A. Dickson with an idea: race across Bass Strait to Tasmania. It's the 5th oldest organised ocean yacht race in the world.

Now itโ€™s part of the recently launched Bass Strait Cup, a new interstate trophy awarded annually to the yacht achieving the best aggregate result across the Melbourne to Devonport Race and Three Hummock Island Race.

Welcome back to those who have already done this race. And if itโ€™s your first time, welcome to the fleet!
