Melbourne to Devonport ‘Rudder Cup’ kicks off on Friday 30 October and this year, it’s also the first race of the newly launched Bass Strait Cup.

The Bass Strait Cup is a new annual trophy, run in partnership with Port Dalrymple Yacht Club, awarded across two races: the Rudder Cup and Tasmania's Three Hummock Island Race. Finish in Devonport, make the short passage east to the Tamar, and line up for the second race.

195nm across Bass Strait. A new interstate trophy on the line. A great reason to enter early.

The last Safety & Sea Survival Course for 2026 will be held on Sunday 29 November—your final opportunity this year to complete or refresh your certification. If you are racing to Hobart, there are requirements for crew members to have a current Safety & Sea Survival certification – so give yourself a chance to make the crew list, get certified.

Cadibarra is back.

After reacquiring the Don Jones 42 he previously owned and raced for 10 years, skipper Paul Roberts has been giving Cadibarra the attention she deserves ahead of a full 2026 ORCV offshore campaign.

The last time Cadibarra ran the Westcoaster in 2016, she took Line Honours and won every handicap division. With Paul stepping up to his 10th Westcoaster start this year, there's plenty of history on board—and plenty more to race for.

Line Honours in the West Offshore Products Coastal Sprint Race 1 is CADIBARRA (SM420) skippered by Paul Roberts crossing the finish line at 11:27:41. They were followed closely by ARCADIA (S17) skippered by Peter Davison crossing the line at 11:31:41. Congratulations to all the crew!

Tackling a bit of rough water out there today, but the fleet is making a good time. Cadibarra is currently leading, with Voodoo Child—now under new ownership out of Geelong—also doing really well.

We've had one retirement, with White Spirit tearing their mainsail, so they’ve turned around and are heading back home to Melbourne. The rest of the fleet continues to work their way down the course.

They're off! 16 boats and 95 crew have set sail in the West Offshore Products Coastal Sprint Race 1, starting in an 18 knot North West wind under nice sunny conditions. Great start to the day out on the water!
